I found some other pictures from the Scouts' saddlebags that documented the problem Scout Jack had with the front "shoes" on his steed but the fine folks at the Early Ford V8 Store in Oklahoma City, OK helped him get his pony back in good order in record time and he and the Alabama Scout were on their way.

Scout had to get creative in repairing a few studs that didn't want to cooperate but he got it safely fixed.
I think this happened on the same Thursday that we began our trip from VA.
After Dickie caught us in Tucumari, NM, I should note that the scouts took Dickie and Jerry on a short cut through Arizona... and arrived in Pomona a day AFTER we did!;):D I feel better after seeing that other fellows can find "short cuts" that turn out like many of mine turn out!
The pictures attest that they were having a ball!:)

I should also mention that they did a bit of brake maintenance to top off the reservoir in Dickie's 3w before taking to the hills.:)
    20160613_065012 (Medium).jpg 20160613_065722-1 (Medium).jpg
Somehow they managed to find some hail, too!!
20160613_064314 (Medium).jpg I was afraid those fellows might encounter a few "opportunities," but I never doubted that they would always solve them and keep rolling.;)

Here are a couple of those "scenic" pictures. Notice that Dickie is often out front and pulling away!!

I'd bet that next to last shot was an improvised "rest stop!"

^^^^I readily agree it is a great picture.
Here are a few more from the saddlebags.

The scouts apparently felt they had to document their progress... state by state!

Found these in the saddlebags, too, but not sure about the meaning in either picture.;)

Looks like appropriate head gear for a scout traveling at 75MPH in a cool roadster for 10 to 12 hours on a windy day . At least when gets to the Mote lat the end of the day he will be able to watch (listen) the Motel TV without keeping the other folks awake in the adjacent rooms.......

After a total of a little more than 900 miles with 50 miles of mountain road construction and a costly detour from brush fires I caught up with Jack and Jerry in Shamrock, Texas. 20160621_224440 (Medium).jpg 20160622_044928-1 (2) (Medium).jpg 20160622_045107 (Medium).jpg

You can't tell from the pictures but the last spot pictured that looks like a Conoco station is actually the Shamrock, Texas Chamber of Commerce!
    20160610_092449 (Medium).jpg
I think all HAMBers should approach their respective local chamber leaders and suggest they work to get THEIR local chamber of commerce to look more like this one!!;);):):):)

Thanks, Ron, for sharing more visual treats from your saddlebags. You did good and it was great to meet you and have you be a part in our adventure.:)

Thank YOU for being part of the team that made us feel so welcome!

It was great to meet you and put a face to a name. Like so many others I met; I wish we'd spent more time around a campfire. Thanks again. Al

It was great to be able to fit so many fellas in our cars!! And we never smelled anything "extra" from y'all!
I think all the guys got a kick out of sharing our adventure and your encouragement only added to the fun.
We're still gathering pictures so hopefully we will find a few more treasures to share.
Here's my 36 the Monday morning that we were already in Ludlow, CA on our way to Pomona and enthusiasm was running high with all of us! We were going to BE there in just a few more hours!

Great! Make sure you tell them what a fun time was had by all and the effort to do a national campaign to restore Route 66 so we can travel cross country without the truck parade.

Two "sticker" cars at breakfast a month after returning from the LA Roadster Show.
"Stickers" are on driver side headlights as put on by members of the LA Roadster Club at the show in Pomona, CA.

I can't believe that is has already been a month since we got back home!!!
    Time does fly!

Thanks again to all for going along with us.

We not only had a great time TAKING the trip; I think we all enjoyed SHARING the trip with those that couldn't be with us. Fun with hot rods and sharing them with others is what it is all about.

Well, we got our local fifteen minutes this week.
Our hometown newspaper had a teaser picture at the top of the front page and then made our story nearly the whole first page of the "Second Front" page(the paper only has two sections!). I think all will recognize Isky in the teaser picture... what a neat guy!!
I think I've captured most of the story if any of y'all wanna read it. I'll check to ensure we've got it all... don't want to deny anybody any reading "pleasure!";)
