So, Jackson is building a Cacklefest car.
    Interesting.........if he can't beat me, then just don't race me. ;) :D

I didn't say he was building one....I just meant when the Cobra gets finished with it that is all it will be good for....LMAO!

That a boy James! Now it is starting to feel like the old Meltdown thread...LOL
Of course at the expense of Jackson.

This goes out to both james and Randall I just hope that Byron dragway will open it back up to 4 wide so I can beat both of you at the same time might as well just toss AJ in the mix as well that way it would be a real 4 wide race and a defeat you all will have to live with the rest of your life lol.

Like most everyone else, I'm bemoaning the loss of the Meltdown Drags from the 2019
drag schedule. My wife and I went in '15, '16 and '17. I was scared off in '18 by the weather
reports of Chicago tv weather forecasters. I found out that was a mistake. Like Slopoke
mentioned earlier, I miss the Hunnert Car Pileup, and also the Hunnert Heads Up. I went
to that one on a pretty cool April day in 2010, I believe, and had a great time. Unfortunately,
I feel the ride up to Rock Falls is just too far for their event.

The name "Glory Days" is a turn off for me. It brings up the image 1985 IROC Camaros and fat quartered Firebirds. I'd like to see later years included but not past 1970. '67-'68 Camaros need
to be included in nostalgia racing, but I'm not interested in back-halved and stickered-up
    bracket cars.

I put together an 8x10 pic sampler from the Meltdown, mainly for those who couldn't make
it or were too wrapped up to take photos. Download it and stick it in your s****book.

A hugh thank you to all the members and people that put the time and effort into making the Meltdown Drags what it is. As everyone has said..... sad to hear this go.

Looking forward the pie eating contest.

    Hats off to you guys!

^^Sorry Eric, I never ran across that *****in' white one, and I kept my eyes open.^^

For those wondering what that must be about, check out the pic below. I dig this car,
it has the look of an azz kickin' street brawler. Being from the Chicago area, that's only
    natural.

Wow, serious bummer. I was starting to plan my 2019 vacation time. This would have been my first time there.

As someone who was active in a local car club doing a show at a local dragstrip for 10 years, I completely understand. In fact it drove me to the point that I left that club, and racing pretty much altogether. As mentioned earlier, 10% of the people working is pretty accurate. And when the people who volunteered to work positions suddenly show up and do something for 5-15 minutes and take off....yeah, pretty frustrating. The best is when you confront them later, the responses I received were " I wanted to see what else was going on and/or had to be in the staging lanes / watch so and so race/ go get something to eat and walk the swap meet, etc, etc.-----oh, how did you like the show--did you see so and so and such and such car(s)?" Me--"I did this and that and this, never ate or drank, walked a hundred times the whole property to do such and such to make sure everyone was happy and enjoying themselves and am tired, aggravated at the lack of help, ready to go eat somewhere quiet and go to bed---thanks for your 15 minutes of help" They still didn't get it.

I am just getting involved again after a near 15 year hiatus, but it isn't with a club this time. Not sure if I even have it in me to do it again.

I gotta say I’m heartbroken. I’ve said for a few years now this was the best nostalgia event in the Midwest by far. I’ve been to all but the first and raced at all but the first two. Thanks for the great work that you all put into it over the years. Let’s hope the new event can come a close second to the original. Thanks again and best wishes to the guys at the MDA.

Actually it might have been because our cars were too fast to get a good clean photo. LMAO

I'm hopin that all former attendees of the Meltdown continue to support Byron Dragway with their replacement event,...we need to support our local tracks; it'd be a shame to lose such a great facility.

Yes, it’s a great facility and ran by good people. We joke about how nice the ****ters are there and judge all other tracks by that standard ;-)

Guess I will be the bad guy here, "Media coverage kills", Pile Up was the best but got out of hand once the rags got wind of it and now this one is going away.

You missed at the Fallout. He made me real nervous against my model A . Lead foot cuts a mean light and that big car hauls the mail!

...don't know about that but without the Pileup there most likely wouldn't be all the other like shows that followed;...our S**** Drive event was started (13 years ago) because we wanted a like event in northern Illinois,..Torquefest, Iron Invasion, Jalopyfest and others are all worthwhile as well...
...I think the Meltdown grew to such proportions because it's not a static show;...you got to see cars in action...I doubt the Meltdown is "history " yet...

If the event is still happening on the same weekend at the same place with the same people is it really over? See you in July.......

My husband and I never made it to this event because of a heavy work schedule but I'm so sad to hear that it may be coming to an end. All I ever heard about it was fantastic comments. I truly hope it returns

We faced the same dilemma for the same reasons with the Hunnert Car Pileup. Ultimately, we decided that it was best to dissolve the whole thing. I'm glad you're going in a different direction. The Meltdown is best drag event I've ever attended, or seen in pictures. Utterly amazing! I'm glad it will continue. Enjoy your rest!
