its that time of the year to kick off the outdoor swap meet season. the huge Jefferson swap meet is a three day event with well over a thousand venders. its a swap meet; car show; car selling event. It surprises me how many times I have scored some very hard to find rare stuff. you do have so look through some junk to find them but the treasures are worth it. lets hope for good weather. don't forget to grab a big bar. I will be vending this year. stop by for a beer. who else is going?
Yep, I will be there. First one in many years. Cannot believe I went to all of them thru the 80's, 90's and the early 2000's without missing any of them and I am talking about the other shows when they were at Waukesha and Elkhorn too, then all of a sudden I didn't do a single one for years. I will be only a spectator this year. Admission and parking I see will be $15 spent just to get in but what hasn't gone up? I usually buy something that will offset that though. $15 to get away from the wife for a day seems like a good deal to me anyways. Sorry, no big bar for me for other reasons I rather not mention here. Good luck to everyone that goes. Hope sellers make a bankroll and I hope the buyers get some good deals too.
the buyers last year were very aggressive. I sold a ton of parts. it was offset by me buying a ton of parts. fyi there are very reliable reports elkhorn will not be happening. the horse people took over the date. the grounds were lost to them. that was one of me favorite events of the year.
"fyi there are very reliable reports elkhorn will not be happening" Yep, I knew that. I have my Madison Classic flyer they sent me on my computer desk and they are only showing the 2 shows in Jefferson. Even though I haven't been a seller for years with them they still send me a flyer. I didn't know about the Wrench Life Weekender though that was mentioned above being in Elkhorn. First I have heard of it. Depending on what auctions and what else are going on that weekend, I might make it not sure yet on that one. But Madison classic in Jefferson is a for sure thing but not on Friday though unless maybe a little later depends what is at the auction. Some reason the last few years the local farm auction company has their annual consignment auction the same weekend and they are having it that Friday.
I got my 1965 Forester camper out today. I received my new awning so i thought i should try it out. I will be staying in the camper on my site all weekend high and dry. Everyone stop by for a beer or some shine.
I’m gonna be there. First time for this one. Super excited to spend the day there. 9 hour round trip, so hoping it’s beautiful weather.
Nothing like a upcoming dead line to get a person motivated. The campers gas lines were mostly crushed or missing. The water tank and hand pump were also mia. The stove works now. The water is all good. My wife made new curtains with a fun camper pattern on them. The air conditioner refrigerator and electric were replaced last fall. Its stocked with food so now im ready for jefferson.
When i bought it in 1984 it already had one. I was given this pic the day i bought it from the owner. I was only 17 and had to look at this pic for the next week as waited for the loan to go through. That was a long week. You have to look close but its there. It should add to the sleeper look.
My buddy has an O/T roadrunner with a trailer hitch they pulled a grain cart during wheat harvest custom cutting with it. 383 4spd and 4.11 gear. They also took it on their honeymoon.Still has a CB radio and antenna on the trunk. LOL
I will be there near @ahshoe I have 11 total spots. Will likely be selling out of WI 131-134 Last Spring was one of the best Jefferson's I ever had as a vendor. Let's keep that streak going. If any HAMBer's are in the area, stop by and say hi.
Im right down the row i think. 108-109. Across from the food barn just before going into white field. Here a pic of a small part of what im bringing. Already starting to load up. Lots of chevy performance parts. 57 vette parts. Race parts chevy and hemi.
I will be dry. I have pop up tents to cover my parts. I just got back from Brossmans meats. I picked up some ribs; pulled pork and brats. Some perogies were hand made last night to take along. I made sure the portable heater and heated electric blanket are in the camper. Warm; dry and a full gut make it more enjoyable. The fridge is freshly stocked with beer and shine. Sell all day party all night. Wooo.
Bring an umbrella and wear boots good for water and mud. Even if its not actively raining the ground will still be wet. I still plan on a Saturday visit rain or shine.
Leaving in the morning. See you guys there. Don't party too hard, Vintage Torque Fest is the following week in Dubuque.
