I`m gonna tell you my adventures of attending this event and hopefully tell you some history of the cars that showed up at this year and why I attend. I drive (1100 miles round trip) my avatar which is a few years to new to get into the show, with traditional touches. Wide whites, 57 Caddy hubcaps, doorknob grille, pinstripes, hydraulics and 70 Buick side trim. But that`s okay cause you are supposed to drive your cars. And that`s more fun than driving your daily. I have attended 10 out of the 11 that have been held. Only missing the first. This was by far the best one yet. Even with all that happened. I`m still trying to figure out my new phone.

Please bear with me as I learn this new technology. I post pics from my phone and then type on the laptop. I have fat fingers. You can see all the parts purchased on this trip in my trunk and a few quarts of oil. then there`s the battery and the suitcase. I arrived home at 4 AM with the car being filthy after driving in rain and drizzle for 250 miles. But it was a welcome rain as we need it. First off, Mark @Moriarity most recent purchase. The Ron Hing Chevy from Oregon. He has attended all 11 events with 4 different cars. It was good seeing and talking to you again. This is the first car with Minnesota being represented.

I’m not a big fan of canted dual headlights but bugger....that car has it right! I suppose its because the headlights are almost parallel to the angle of the grille surround. I dig harmony. Starting to like the Packard taillights as well...

The car is basically the same as it was originally built other than the color. You can read more in Popular Customs February/March 1966 issue. Scan_20230611.png Scan_20230611 (2).png Scan_20230611 (3).png

I`ll try and tell you what I know about each car. Correct me if I`m wrong. This one was for sale and sitting out in front of the host hotel. See the tail lights in the rear bumper. IMG_0058.jpeg IMG_0059.jpeg

As far as current information goes, I`m out of the loop. When I arrived Thursday at 7, there was a tent at the entrance to the side lot of the Hotel. I asked someone where the show was being held Saturday, as it is usually held at Edwards Drive Inn restaurant. They said HERE. Here at the Hotel, I said good. Tis 4-dr Hardtop was also here last year. I saw it earlier this year at the Omaha`s ISCA (International Show Car Association) World of Wheels in the Custom Car display. The car has a heavy amount of flake in the gold paint. He is from Indiana. There is also a Tesla charging station at the hotel as well. Remind me later to tell you the story of the welding job that took place a few years ago there involving a car with Packard Taillights. IMG_0068.jpeg IMG_0067.jpeg IMG_0066.jpeg

Missed seeing you. There were more cars at the Host hotel Thursday night this year, than Friday night last year. Jim Snow, my names Jim. Stan is short for my last name. It`s a common mistake. You have to send a pic of your car in to get registered for the event. Traditional Customs only. But Kevin makes the final decision. In the end, it is his show. 200 cars is the max, as limited space allows. I`ll post pic`s as time allows. With a story or two.

One of the first guys I ran into was @Sum54ford He asked if I saw the 38 Ford on the end. He said it was one of the earliest Barris Customs built. I asked if it was originally white. Yes it was. Here is a pic of his Vicky, which is for sale. He has a cool 51 Merc he was planning on taking. But it didn`t work out. Also his son came along and here is a pic of his dads sedan as well. It`s been in the family since the 70`s. 2 cars from Missouri. IMG_0233.jpeg IMG_0237.jpeg IMG_0234.jpeg IMG_0236.jpeg IMG_0235.jpeg

As you get to where the show cars are, on your left is the row of the historical significant cars all in a line. The first one is owned by Barris built car collector Kurt McCormick. This is the Dick Flowers 38 Ford which had been hidden for years. It is the very first customer-built car that came out of the Barris shop. It was never completed, no interior and was never painted. These are the only pic`s of it ever to be found until it was discovered at a garage sale down from Alex Izardi`s parent`s house. IMG_0174.jpeg A few pics of the accessories used on the car. Plus as is pic`s when Kurt purchased it 8 years ago Then just completed a short time before this show. I should of took more pic`s of it. You just never know what will show up at this show. A true 40`s custom. Why black walls. It was wartime, shortage of tires. People were asking to see this in the other thread. It was part of the show. Originally built years ago. IMG_0158.jpeg IMG_0156.jpeg IMG_0155.jpeg IMG_0157.jpeg IMG_0435.jpeg

IMG_0079.jpeg I have always liked 54 Ford Victorias. This one has 55 Chevy bumpers and taillights. Only about 180 + cars to go. View attachment 5756087 IMG_0080.jpeg

Not all cars that are accepted are mint cream puffs. This one as well as the 54 Ford are members of the Voodoo Kings. Which have chapters in 7 different states. IMG_0081.jpeg IMG_0078.jpeg I’m

  22. Thanks for the pics and related info Jim! Missed being there and seeing you. Had my room up until Tuesday when it became certain that I wasn't going to be able to make it.

Looking forward to what is yet to come....

A Michigan car. This guy bought this because his Dad owned (and built) it when he was little. He had fond memories of the car. His dad sold it when he was 4 years old. IMG_0087.jpeg IMG_0085.jpeg IMG_0086.jpeg IMG_0322.jpeg

I was late reserving my room, so I had to get a suit. Soo I booked for only two nights. Which meant I had to drive home Saturday after the show. Slept a bit in Wally Worlds parking lot in cental Iowa. Got home at 4 AM. I asked about down grading my room, but only a room with 2 queen beds was available. But it was only 12 dollars cheaper. Soo, I kept the suit. Only the 3rd time in my life having one. Too big for one person. No hot tub or anything. But it did have two bathrooms.

  25. LOL...the room I let go was a double queen. Two bathrooms, huh? One for reading and one for getting ready. Haha!!

Voodoo Larry had this there last year. It was unpainted and not chopped yet. From Illinois. Can you guys believe I finally have an I phone. My flip phone 3g technology went away. I got 3 phone calls when I was gone. It was my wife, Yes I`m married. And no texts at all. Met this guy (25-30 year old) about 3 years ago. He is mentally and physically challenged. I hope I`m am saying this correctly. This Hudson is his car he inherited from his grandfather. His parents aren`t in the car scene. So, a couple that are car people take him and his car to car shows threw out the year. He really looks like he has a good time at this show. He is also a VooDoo King. But he prefers to wear a white T-shirt. IMG_0084.jpeg
