I appreciate the guys that share Hot Rod and Kustom history on the HAMB. It is too easy just to post pics....

I'm with you. I love it when some basic info is posted along with the picture. First, it helps make it "searchable", second, it's one of the ways we learn thing. Easier to recall details when you associate the words with the pics. Takes a little longer for the person posting, but makes much better content on the best damn HAMB sam around.

IMG_0533.jpeg Soo, I woke up Friday morning and realized I put on 2 different colored shoes early Thursday morning when I left for Indy. Same brand, but different colors. Soo, I headed for the car to find the secondary battery was dead. Soo, off I went to Wally World down the street. Bought a new pair of shoes and a battery. Walked to the edge of Loew`s and put the stuff in their shopping cart and felt like a homeless person as I was walking along. Being car less with a mis matched pair of shoes in my cart. And tooth paste. Ditched the cart on the end of Loew`s and carried the battery the rest of the way. Crossing a 6-lane road in the process.

  6. ^^^^ This great looking Ford belongs to HAMBer @Ron. He's been around the HAMB for a very long time although I haven't "seen" him in a while. When it comes to customs, he's the real deal! E

This guy was parked along the outer edge of the show. I recognized it as being owned by the late Gary Goodguy Meadors. I asked the guy if he owned it, Yes. I asked where it was built. He said a friend in Michigan. He never made any mention of Gary. It had multiple Goodguy stickers. Talked to Dave Wolk, he said his brother said Gary`s 40 was at the show. Gary always ran their custom-made air cleaners. So I found the guy again and asked if it was owned by Gary at one time. He said ,Yes, but he had owned it longer than Gary owned it. I then said .Ya, but he died. He said yes he did. The conversation we had, he just rubbed me the wrong way. The Wolk`s even tried to talk to him, telling him that Gary bought one of their air cleaners that was on the car from them. IMG_0425.jpeg IMG_0424.jpeg

Ross Rodendeck and his wife have been to Indy more than a few times as well. He built this Merc in the early 80`s and got around to finishing about 15 years ago. It is chopped, channeled and sectioned. He drives it every- where. And fast. He is from Goodland Kansas. This year, Kevin CCR Kevin had cupcakes for him Friday to celebrate his 90 th (might have been his 91 st) birthday that was on Thursday. This year his grandson drove him out in the Merc. Happy birthday Ross. I missed out on the cupcakes, but had one a couple years ago. IMG_0404.jpeg IMG_0287.jpeg IMG_0286.jpeg IMG_0285.jpeg

Kool to see Gary's 40 Coupe still around. Lot of kool details, my favorite is the convertible cowl. Very classy touch.

Originally called the Little Beaver, now called the Crown Coupe from Michigan. I wonder when the last time the car was started as they push it everywhere. He also owned the Starbird Bubble topped Corvair, has sold it to Galipin Motors in California. He also owns the 55-56 Chopped Merc built by Dave Gunyoun in the mid 80`s from Oklahoma. He says it`s his wife`s car. He was featured on an episode from The Pickers as well. Haven`t seen it yet. Jim Mcfall from Iowa City Iowa did the interior. This is a car that screams East Coast Custom, being from New York. It has been to this show many times and gets lots of attention every year. Should of took more pictures of it. IMG_0344.jpeg IMG_0337.jpeg IMG_0336.jpeg

Another regular at this event from New York. I love 57 Fords with cruiser skirts and continental kits. IMG_0333.jpeg IMG_0334.jpeg

  28. I don't think Galpin bought Starbird's Forcasta.
They did buy the double-bubble El Camino "Ultimus" from him.

He sold the Tom Holden Ultimus to the American Pickers and they sold it to Galpin....
