Bob -Sh Boom- Fryz brought the 57 Lincoln originally built by Bill Hines. He usually brings a different car every year. He recently purchased the 60 Cadilac that was built by Derosa and sons Customs. It is called The Shark and has a boat tailed Riv top on it. This 58 Chevy appears to be an old custom. Pancaked hoods and trunk lids aren`t done much these days. It is from Indiana and has been a regular attendee at the CCR. IMG_0329.jpeg IMG_0316.jpeg IMG_0330.jpeg IMG_0317.jpeg

This Merc was recently purchased from a gentleman in Pennsylvania. It was sitting in a shed with a wood floor for about a year. In unkept condition. It now resides in Missouri. It was owned be the Late Dave Barnes for about 4 years from my hometown before his passing 6 years ago. It was good to see it back on the road. 5. Hard to believe someone would buy a car like that and then promptly plop in a shed and ignore it. Great looking Merc!

I really liked the build style on this merc from Ohio. That`s the famous @Moriarity in the black shirt. IMG_0328.jpeg IMG_0327.jpeg IMG_0184.jpeg IMG_0179.jpeg IMG_0178.jpeg

The chrome and stailess trim was done to perfection on this car. The interior was done very nicely too. IMG_0273.jpeg IMG_0274.jpeg

Thanks for taking the time to post this. We have nothing like it here in Europe (well, there are a couple of big meetings up in Sweden but they're about a 1000 miles away and even they don't have that many quality cars). Not a bad car among them, amazing.

Thanks for posting. The info you've shared about the cars and owners/caretakers is great, especially about the historic customs that show up. Although I'd love to attend in person, as everyone said, your pics are the next best thing. Might have to think about making some plans... :)
Been to Indy before for other stuff and it isn't really all that far away.

I love Russ`s car. Not because it is a Barris car. But because he bought the car in 1953. He heard it was on a car lot in (Madison?) Eastern Iowa. He went to get it, Sold. He later learned his buddy bought it. Had a bad running motor so he traded him a car the ran good. He was in High school. He wrecked it later in the 50`s and restored it in the 90`s. Nobody really appreciated it for what it was. Now, it`s a different ball game. Russ is a hell of a nice guy. I think he`s 89. He told me after the Hirohata Merc sold, A guy called him up and offered him a big big chunk of change for it. He said he wasn`t interested in selling it. I need to make a trip to Bellville to see him. He got an award last year at the CCR Revival for being into custom and owning a Barris car the longest of any body ever. That`s him by the cooler with the orange lid. IMG_0363.jpeg IMG_0361.jpeg IMG_0362.jpeg IMG_0352.jpeg IMG_0360.jpeg IMG_0357.jpeg IMG_0371.jpeg

He has an early Rayson Craft boat ( @Moriarity has one) he bought new and raced it in his younger years. He has that too. I do need to go see him.

Very few pick-ups were present. Of all the different body style of Chevy Pick-up. I am the fondest of these. You can`t any more traditional than this, note parking brake. IMG_0259.jpeg IMG_0258.jpeg

Clean and mild pickup, Jim! '51 Buick tail lights?. I like the splash of color and use of a small bullet on the Caddy caps, most get the standard medium size bullet and, in my opinion, get used on waaaay too many early customs, 30's and 40's.

Ed Lepold`s awesome Merc- MR MERC from Illinois (east of St Louis) built this in the early 80`s. It is on The Plaque of The Lincoln Land Kustoms. A club that was popular in the 80`s. Ed wasn`t able to attend, so his son and daughter-in-law brought it. It has been there many times. It gets driven everywhere. I always like chatting with him and his family. Just look at all those little details on this build. IMG_0256.jpeg IMG_0254.jpeg IMG_0253.jpeg IMG_0252.jpeg IMG_0251.jpeg

Ususally 5 or 6 cars caravan from the Pittsburg Penn.(Customs of Pittsburg) and surrounding areas. But this year, only one car came for different reasons. Mr. Spanovich (Spelling ?) IMG_0238.jpeg IMG_0243.jpeg

As you can see from the background shots, I have a few more car pictures to post. Also, I been meaning to cross the interstate and take a pic of the bowling pin with my car. IMG_0263.jpeg IMG_0264.jpeg IMG_0266.jpeg

Evertt Reynolds from southern Missouri sectioned this along with a few other guys during the KKOA show in Salina. Chopped, channeled and sectioned. It has a 51 Merc back window in it as well. IMG_0331.jpeg

@Ryan just wrote a story on Ruby Deluxe on the Jalopy Journal. It was a hump backed sedan. Won the Goodguys Custom of the Year a few years ago. From New York. IMG_0113.jpeg IMG_0112.jpeg IMG_0110.jpeg Bump.

These Mercurys sure look smoother when they take the "basket handles" at the top of the doors off.

The same could be said of the 58 Impalas with the phony brake vents that often get confused with new side trims.

From Minnesota. I saw this car 24 years ago at the Back to the 50`s show in Minnesota. I asked where the trunk lid was that had the Rat Fink frenched in was at. He said this car never had that. I then said it was in a pic in a magazine the featured the KKOA show years ago. He then thought and remembered it maybe did have that trunk lid in its previous life. But he had never seen it.
