A wishbone, the upper link that locates the rear end.

Thanks. Makes the pickup bed useless, there is a reason nobody else came up with the idea.

Well, to be fair this doesn't look like a truck that will be hauling lumber again.

I agree, it's done for looks, and I don't like stuff like that.

@Bandit Billy, @oliver westlund and @Tim_with_a_T, great coverage and you all have your own style of capture that makes one want to have been there...lots of movers and shakers there for sure and good to see...plenty of provenance in that historic event for sure...;)

You mean a height adjustable setup or a clearance of stuff underneath in rocky areas?

I looked for the owner/builder to answer that And found no one. Nothing on the sign either. A couple gents struggling out thought it p***ed through to the rear suspension? I couldn’t see that from the mirrors under the truck.

Looks like that's exactly what it is. Looks like they put the wishbone in the bed and made it pretty because it was probably cramped to fit it under the bed floor. That's my guess.

  13. That's a lot better show than the money grab I went to yesterday in KC. There's lots of history in the Portland area. That's a show I miss going to, as well as Oakland before it moved to Pomona. Who owns the Dream truck now? Thanks for the pictures.

His home was recently featured in Hemings and others. He built in Vancouver, WA, overlooking Portland. Wild house. One of the nations best care homes in my opinion.

Oliver, Great video! Like selection of cars and the angles and speed that you take in filming too. Nice work for a Conehead. MantuaJohn

There were a lot of what I would call "filler" cars and trucks in the mix that we didn't take photos of or didn't show. One section of one room with a club that had square body Chevys that were most all patina rigs. The high school kids section way way back in the line of rooms that had some of what I would call beaters but maybe they will be a lot nicer next year.
On the other hand there was a whole section of really nice lowriders with full show displays and a lot of really nice OT trucks. A bunch of seriously compe***ive ISCA show cars competing for the big awards in the mix too. Not as many big vendor displays as in some past years and the only Celeb thing I saw was the Eric Estrada booth but he wasn't there on Friday night.

My birthday is March 1st, got my driver license in 1965 and Dad let me drive to Portland in the '59 Ply station wagon. That has been my birthday celebration every year since and I can count the shows I missed on my fingers, maybe on one hand. That includes the times of car show burnout. After the GNRS 75th '32 Ford show and their 75th GNRS last year all other shows pale in comparison. I must have been in a good mood Friday and my bum knee didn't bother me until the end, because I rate this year PDX as one of their best. My "Spock logic" likes straight isles in logical form. My artistic appreciation finally overtook logic and I enjoyed wandering around the displays. The main hall was outstanding. There were more Shelby GT Mustangs than I had seen in one place including Brother Collection in Salem. The c10's were impressive. I think there were fewer Traditional and Streetrods, but the outstanding display from West Coast Customs made up for it.

The High School Challenge, while not being what we consider "Show Cars" made up for it in youthful enthusiasm. Special appreciation to the High schools that have an automotive cl***, their displays included an electric 3 wheeler and a Formula 2000.

I didn't take many pictures because I know Billy and Oliver would cover the show better than I would. Thanks guys. I liked this '32 Pickup, there was an equally nice '40 pickup that was gold but a more subdued shade that didn't "POP" like this one. I was impressed with the '55 BelAir that was painted in 1972. Included is my artsy shot with Taboo in the back ground.

Yeah E hall was packed with really nice stuff fitting for an indoor show. D was good. C hall you could almost name the Chevy hall. Had 3 big Chevy clubs in there. C-10 Oregon, Impala's of Portland and Columbia River Camaro Club.

I had my 68 in the Camaro display and was surprised at how many could not understand we had a used car lot theme and thought all the cars were for actual sale, we had stuck the cars original price on them if the owner knew it. Someone actually called the show office mad because they could not find anything on the "dealership" because they were dead set on buying my car.
