Technical 21 stud block foundry marking ?

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by C&M Auto Supply, May 25, 2025.

  1. Well the I guess near original engine in my 1934 PU is loosing its bottom end. I bought it in 1974. Someone I ran into is going to destroy an original restored 1980's era the same and is trying to pre-sell me that engine. All I can get out of the ill-informed is there is an angle drain cock on the front and on the right front passenger vertical side of the block is the relief cast "Diamond" and next to that the single letter "R". Is this a post-production "diamond block" ? ? I have a Model A post production Diamond block but don't know squat about V8's. Any help ?

I’ve never heard of a diamond block V8 either. But it could’ve happened. Since the theory is that they were produced after the cars were older, maybe it has loose bearings too?
