Need some help with this one. I'm running an old Evans race 2x2 intake. There is not a mount to run a gen. I know there are some bolt on aftermarket mount s but I think it will interfere with the front Carb . Anyone have some cool ways to mount it. Pics please I don't want to run an Alt. thanks
Can't say I've ever seen an answer to your problem. The readily available head-mount generator brackets would be right in line with the water pump outlets. Maybe it can't be done? Hold a generator up and see if there's even enough room between the carb and the water pump. You may have painted yourself into a corner.
Hello. Take a look at what I am doing. My blog is "Qualicum Beach speed and muffler" I used an old intake front section and an early Roof intake that I cut off and am useing a 28 Model A powerhouse gen with a new alternator guts. Fits fine.
I would strongly recommend selling the manifold to someone with a '39-41 Ford that doesn't need a center mount for a fan. The pump-in-head flatheads make the tall type duals that allow generator in stock location a very good idea...the fitting issues are nasty enough to justify going that way. There actually is a gen mount for these engine...pictures are in the Fenton installation manual, and probably others made similar. I think it mounts the gen high between pump and manifold but don't really remember. I've only seen them loose, not on an engine, and they have a look of desperate improvisation to them and they probably make for poor belt contact...they have contorted looking branches going to head studs, and I've never been very sure how exactly everything went. Note that they also will NOT cure the fan problem...for that you need the center mount to allow use of an extra gen cut down into a fan mount idler. If I were using a rig like I just discussed, I would also use '36 heavy truck double sheave pulleys, just so I could drive from 3 belts turning different accessories in the hope of getting decent belt contact. I say it's time to punt and find a more workable manifold for your application. The existing combo just needs far too much improvisation and bad compromise.
If you have a 9 inch there are alt mounts that go on your rear end pinion. Not traditional but might get you out of selling your intake. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Hi The alternator is from a Kabota tractor or small hoe. I cut the ears off it and opened up the Powerhouse front to let the pulley and forward part of the Kabota housing fit through.Drilled and taped three holes on the forward side of the alt housing with countersunk allen screws in the Power house. Looks more or less stock and I cut a couple of holes in the back for air to exit.I use the original small voltage cutout on top for the wires to pass through.
This is my Kubota alt. mount on my EVANS triple. You could do the same with a generator or Powermaster because you have more room on the 2 carb. PM me for more detailed pics. Ron Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
