Slowly making progress but not as much as I hoped.. Did a little parts run on Saturday to a local supplier Motor and tranny painted Hopefully after work today I'll be able to put the frame on and get some real work done
Nice job, it always seems to take longer actually doing it then what your brain says thinks it will take.
Just saw your Kreger engine mount, and thought I might post a picture of the one I just bought. Not 100% sure if it is exactly the same as yours, but here are some pics that might help you rebuild yours if it is the same or similar. Hope it helps. Keep up the good work.
How did I miss this build? Quite a few really cool builds going on right now. Making me think I need to change direction on mine when it come to drivetrain.....
Almost exact! How is the rubber mated to those triangular peices? Mine are pooched Sorry I haven't been posting life and work have been catching up haha Not much to report Got the body from a fellow hamber ( and he bought from and old speed shop years ago) And one of my good friends brought it down for me.. Cleaner than I thought ! Few things to address yet.. I'll keep ya boys posted
Almost exact! How is the rubber mated to those triangular peices? Mine are pooched There is a small metal rod/wire about the same thickness as a paperclip that goes through the triangular piece to hold the rubber block in place. Hope these close up pictures help.
Geez sorry I went stale there for a long time there boys got in a car accident in September and just started a new job shortly after that do haven't had the time to do much at all ! Now at least with my new job I have 7 days on and 7 days off soo we should be getting a lot more work done.. I'll grab some better pics tomorrow but these are the latest I have on my phone but progress is farther than these I was having a big problem with the rear cross member and spring not lining up Stupid me rushing and installed the front motor mount backwards.. Now you'll know the answer in anyone has this problem, took me awhile to figure it out After all that went over to another friends house and he helped me cut my stanchions for my windshield And the body patiently waiting to sit on the frame Like I said earlier sorry for the stall bit now we should be getting back at er again
More work done these days off slowly but surely getting done haha The bones were hitting the frame since we kicked it up so I had to drop those aswell Cut them roughly 8 1/2" in My buddy had a stock banjo rear with the torque tube on it so we were able to bolt it up instead of guessing We used 3/4" round to drop them down just heated them up and bent them down approx the width of the Stock bone All done
Don't know if anyone's still subscribed, went stale there for a bit haha anyways I'll keep going for those of you who are still reading Everything is done chassis wise, bolted on ready to go Wanted to do 18's but settled with 17's gonna send them to get blasted and paint them antique white I'm thinking Got the body bolted on.. Strangely enough the front body mounts didn't line up with the body holes so decided to chop off and redrill the body mounts so they would line up with the body... Possibly a truck frame?? Don't know what this serial number is possibly aftermarket subrails at one time? Anyone know ? Pic of the car on the wheels with body on Got the radiator made and mounted and grille she'll just placed on for now ... Starting to look like a hot rod ! (Sorry for dark pic) Now just on to bodywork within the next few weeks here... Have to fix some minor issues aswell with steering I'll keep posting !
Still watching and i love the outcome! Strange number, doesn't look like the engine-number. Maybe a serial or production number for the body?
Frame is of the last variety of model A frame, I'd guess. The body mount was relocated for the introduction of the slant windshield cars if I remember right, but was used for all body styles after it was introduced. Not very familiar with 30-31 stuff, but subrail stampings were used throughout production to identify body assembly plant and sequential production number. Check out Plucks Model A page for more information on that.
The body number is not related to the serial number, but does identify which plant it was made at. The link below is based upon research to unlock the mystery behind the body numbers. https://www.mafca.com/downloads/Technical/Assembly Plants Body Number.pdf
Looks great mate! Except i have to say, please find another alternative to those rear wishbones because they look ridiculously unsafe.. You could probably weld some mounts onto the rear end closer into the centre and move the front lug on the torque tube forwards.. or someone else might have an idea.
Not much to report these days off went to the local swap meet and picked up a windshield frame Chopped the windshield and chopped the lower stanchions didn't get any pics of that but got one with everything mounted.. Just brought it to the glass shop to get the glass done I'll get better pics next days off ( next Friday)
Ya pretty happy with that chop couldn't decide beside this or a inch higher so I decided smaller the better and happy how it turned out not looking back at all haha
Got some more work done it these days off onto body work finally! Haha First thing we did was made the new subrails for it in the rear Got to shrinking the above decklid panel and patched a few holes aswell Next thing we tackled was doing the rear quarter panel right in the corner where the decklid sits both sides And back to work.. Haha get some more done and some more pics for you all as soon as I get home
