Hey guys, I've usually been a v8 kinda guy when it comes to building a hot rod or such, but as I've grown my taste has been changing. I bought a 50 chevy fleetline 2 door with and original 216 and it has just sat, then I tore down my 235 in my 50 gmc truck and was going to place a v8 there. Anyways, I'm getting off topic. I think Im going to keep the original motors and rebuild them. What I'd like to find is a good website or book that would help me learn about these motors and how to tune and adjust them correctly and maintain them so they run like tops when I put them back in the frame. Any directions would be helpful! thank you!
Leo's book covers the post 1962 inlines (194, 230, 250, 292) but not earlier 216 and 235's. The shop manual has pretty much everything for a standard build: http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1949_53/06engine/6_001.HTM For hop up info here's a good book: https://www.californiabills.com/p-10-chevrolet-gmc-buick-speed-manual.aspx More useful info: http://midstateantiquestockcarclub.com/stovebolts.html http://www.earlycorvettes.com/linda/mcgurkhotrod/mcgurkhotrod001.pdf
