i know its a rookie question but can you guys tell me if the flywheel and distributor of a 216 will work on a 235

  2. Flywheel - yes.
6 volt starters match 6 volt flywheels, 54-, 12 volt starters match 12v fly wheels, 55+.... Its a toooth thing. No problem pushing 12v through a 6v starter, itll like it. Just dont keeep spinning/cranking, makes it all hot.

    Distributor - 99% sure its a no.

Search is your friend on this swap.

    Lots of info at....

The 216/235 distributors up to and including the '54 standard trans will interchange. Starting with '54 'glide motors and up the gear changed from steel to cast iron (as did the camshafts) so you can't mix and match - they'll chew each other up. You can try to find a used '55 and up dizzy or you can just change the gear on the 216 dizzy, but I have no idea where you'd find the cast iron gear.

    Yes and no.

We would need to know the year of both motors and what you are trying to put it in...

ive got a 46 fleetmaster with a 216. my issue is that two of the pistons are pretty much done and rather than getting those fixed i think the wiser choice would be to go with a 235. the thing is that it doesnt have a flywheel or starter so im thinking of using the ones i have. the 235 is supose to be a 55 or 56.
