    Here we go...
I was introduced to this awsome hobby several years ago. And have been going balls to the wall ever since. I have finished my third year with a car, and this past year has been my first year I have actually had it on the road all year. I have learned everything I know about hot rods at Bubba's shop, and from everyone whom has walked in the door.
This up comming year I will be giving my ride a "New Look". With help from my friend at Bubba's Hot Rod Shop, and adding my own personal touches.

I had to start things off in my garage stripping down body and preping the metal. I did not realize the mess bondo can make. Then on January third it will be off to Bubba's garage for complete disassembly.

1922? 1922 what? The cowl in the first picture looks like a modified 30-31 Ford Model A, the bed like a garden tractor trailer box, the windshield late50s-early 60s MG or AH.
    Give us the details.

For reference sake, the first Ford Roadster Pickup was offered in 1925.

  3. If you sing Johnny Cash's "One Piece at a Time"song,, that will explaine Mike's Buickchevfordstudabaker2223242526whatever:p:p:p ....Roadster Pickup....
It's just kool,, and it's gona' be green...

  4. PS: That's the "Noodle" helping and his car being coverd in bondo dust ,,,,Too Funny....

Heres the orginal build ( June 2006) thread , this car was built from just spare parts at Culbertson Customs and Bubbas Hot Rod shop.
A old ebay purchase T bucket etc.

Read thru the thread and then pic up on the action now.

Car has been driven every where!!!! Check out www.stillrunning.com for the last rod run as a yellow car adventure.

Depends on how you look at , Ford di make the first Roadster pickup in 25 , however there was tons of them before then using many different aftermarket beds. Heres a pic of my 1917 Roadster pickup.

A couple pics from the past build up.
I was at the Culbertsons Customs cookout and asked Tom if he had a body we could use for Mikes hot rod. He walked out back and showed me the model a rear section and the 20s GM (Buick) cowl in the weeds.
Never dreamed it could become a real car.

No muff to tough would apply here for sure !!

After a few weeks of wed nights and tons of help from our friends ( thats really what this car thing is all about i believe!!) the car came together.

And i just found this pic on my computer taken the first test drive night .

Old speedway frame, buick cowl, ford rear section, oldmobile rear end, rebuilt 350 chevy with 350 turbo trans and model T radiator shell.
Body sections and home made bed by Culbertson Customs.
    Goodby yellow paint ????
    Stay tuned......

I've always liked the looks of your rod... so why the re-do? For mechanical or cosmetic upgrades? Gary

Mostly cosmetic... New paint job, strip and clean frame and engine, clean up wiring, Interior (if $$ permits), wood flooring in the bed.

  12. Looking good. It's gonna be a worth while redo with some shine to it this go around... and the whole paint staying on the body thing...

By the way, if you're liking yellow, a fine rich but not brassy yellow in found on the modern Tbirds, named "Inspiration Yellow". Your local PPG man can mix it, color code is on the driver's side door flange of any yellow Tbird.

I can relate to that. I am trading off a coupe project that I probably should keep. But I will be free of the bad vibes surrounding it and getting a driver that I can have fun with.

  19. cool little rpu...you are right this hobby is just as much about the friends and people you meet along the way...looking forward to pix of the transformation

WOW, its Jan 3rd already. Mike drove the roadster to the shop this morning and was waiting when Lindross and I got there.

Looks like him and the noodle had some fun sanding all that yellow paint off.

Got it in the shop on the lift and took a look. Lots of folks came to help turn the "lemon yellow" into a Lime ..

Just a few minutes of conversation and the race was on!!! lets take something apart as our friend John always says...

A few minutes later the group was lifting the body off the car truck bed and all....

Pretty amazing what 12-15 guys can do on a sat morning??

Car was a mess from all that sanding , its off to the painter with the body and off to the car wash with the chassis.....

The Suave mobile is under way. After Jeff and I left for his shop and the just delivered body, we got a rolling cart welded up for the body and filled the firewall holes and shaved the hood latches and filled those holes - one hole we found on the peak of the firewall still had duct tape holding in the bondo - it is steel now. We have a game plan and material list and will be on it on Monday. Goal is to have all the metal work done and ready for primer by the end of the week.

Someone said you're thinking about green? I just pray you don't paint the wheels yellow. It'll look like a John Deere. ;) Looks great man. Keep us posted

Here is the link to Tierods photos from Saturday. What a great day, got alot done. All day long friends and the curious stopped by to see what we do at Bubba's. Can't wait until Wednesday to do it all over again.

  29. She's gonna be sharp. Not even my truck and I'm excited to see the transformation to the next level of fit and finish. :) After pulling it all apart and a clean up it's held up well and is as solid of a hot rod as they come.
