Body update - photos to follow later in the week. Plan is metal work this week, body work next week, paint the following. We did metal work today - shrunk/stretched the cab where it is screwed up so the filler won't be so deep, purchased some 1/2 square tube to run supports in the cab for the interior install and stiffening, have the steel to detail the area between the cowl and body the way we discussed with Walt. I hammer worked the bed to straighten it out and getting prepped for welding. Plan to add some hidden supports to the bed rails (front and back) to keep it from tearing again. Will pick up the speedo cluster on Wed so I can fab the mount.

update from last night? I'll be over with the primers either this morning or tomorrow morning.

  4. Yup, car is completely tore down to bare frame and a lot of the radius rods, springs, etc... have been blasted. Frame is off to the media blaster and Darryls booth for a reshoot along with the front axle I believe. This saturday we will continue to finish sand blasting all the components and begin primering and reshoot the rear axle, fix axle seal, clean and shoot engine. Hopefully the car will be ready for reassembly Wednesday. Then we can start laying out the new wiring harness, fuel and brake lines.

  5. Man I may have to move back to Indiana (Fort Wayne originally) and hook up with you guys...everybody pitching in and getting it done (and done right by the sound and look of things)...really makes the hobby alot more fun when its a community effort...I love this little rpu and can't wait to see the finished pix

  6. Yup, couldn't agree more. I know we're all excited about the "re"build this go around and can't wait to see the finished product ourselves. :)

We're hoping it's one of those where we just all stand back when it's done and go wow. :D

Spent 1/2 a day on the body today - ground all the welds on the bed - supports are in and all the tears are back where they belong and welded up. Cut and fit all the inner supports for the cab - hope the upholsterer will thank us for that. Got the filler piece for the rad cover made and prepped, got the tabbed area prepped for filling on the rad cover too - will have that welded up tomorrow. New cowl body lines are on the car and about 1/2 welded - looks pretty sharp. Still have some metal work there to complete. Got the dash cut and the speedo fit today. Will get the metal surround cut and fabbed tomorrow. Picked up our etch primer today. Maybe will be able to paint Friday evening as planned.

WOW another wed evening at Bubbas the re-do on the "lemon into lime" roadster is moving pretty damn quick. I counted 20 people at the shop last night and everyone was having a great time !!!

The car actually exploded and disappeared this morning as we took the chassi to the sandblaster ( dependable in Indy) and they said to pick it up in the morning. ( pretty good service)

WOW the dudes was on the throttle today. Got the axle apart, most parts glas beaded, engine mocked up a couple times. rear end ready to paint etc.
We used striper on the engine a it worked pretty well, a little air tooling and it will also be ready to paint.
Met with our uphoulstry guy and started a plan for a new interior as well to include new seats. He is one board with our get er done schedule.

Over a period of three years the old radiator that came with the car had consumed a bottle ot two of bars leak etc. Now the car has a new saldana radiator and wally thought the engine should be flushed and ALL freeze plugs replaced.
