Technical 226 torque specs

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by patchen1, Oct 9, 2018.

  1. I have a Ford 226 flathead 6 cylinder and an Edmunds aluminum head. I was wondering what the torque should be for the head bolts?

I'd go with what is recommended for flathead V8 engines with aluminum heads. On that one I would torque it in smaller increments too. Maybe start out at 10 lbs and go up 5 or ten pounds at a time rather than just doing it in three increments as we normally do on an OHV V8. A few more rounds with the torque wrench but less chance of having an issue later.
