I have a Ford 226 flathead 6 cylinder and an Edmunds aluminum head. I was wondering what the torque should be for the head bolts? Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
I'd go with what is recommended for flathead V8 engines with aluminum heads. On that one I would torque it in smaller increments too. Maybe start out at 10 lbs and go up 5 or ten pounds at a time rather than just doing it in three increments as we normally do on an OHV V8. A few more rounds with the torque wrench but less chance of having an issue later.
