Finally getting started on a 23 Model T i got from a friend on the hamb. Now I have a real Dilemma what motor do I want to use in the car. The basic idea I have for the car is a clean T with the turtle deck with a 30's grille shell and a set of old movie theater seats in it.

The problem I am facing is that I want to use the original T frame and rear leaf spring with a set of the early shocks (Cant think of the name but the ones with the arm on them) I know I will be boxing the frame and I will go with something like a drilled, dropped, and peaked front axel.

I have a 272 or 292 y-block but I am in the process of trading for a 51 Mercury flathead. I will more than likely put a modern overdrive transmission in the car to make it more driver friendly. So here is my dilemma what motor do I use? I want it to be traditional to a good degree but I am going to be doing some upgrades such as a 12v system, alternator, transmission, obvious bolt on power adders. But what would you use if you had the chance? I would like to have a fairly traditional hotrod probably either in a shiny black or a dark navy blue.

I'd check out some of the threads here about traditional T Buckets. There's a couple. Not to copy, but to get ideas and see what works and what doesn't. Flatheads look very cool in a T Bucket. I can't afford to have one as powerful as I'd like, but if I could, I probably would. So, look around, get ideas and work up a game plan.

i'd suggest with the motor choices your considering use an A frame. T frames are small and made to flex. big motor small frame bad idea.
