I'm sure I told this story before, I had stumbled across the HAMB while looking for info on a Peter Vincent book, 'saw there were guys talking about Olds engines, asked if anybody had anything for sale and promptly got a lesson on message board etiquette from a couple keyboard tough guys. about a year later I attended the first Hot-Rod-A-Rama in Tacoma and overheard some guys talking about this place, rejoined and have been here almost every day since. a picture of one of the guys doing the talking, don't remember his name, took the picture to remember and search for the HAMB
Paul, Looks like you joined 5 days before I did. EDIT: and Mark joined a year and a half before either of us.
23 years goes by pretty quick. When I first read that, I thought, dang I’m a newbie. Then I got curious and looked only to learn I’ve been here right at 17 years. I will say, if the internet went away tomorrow, this is the only place I would truly miss.
Is it a thing to transition to being a FOG...??? That seems like a comfortable fit, and something you should wear with pride.
Congrats Paul I have 3 years and I do consider myself a FNG Great place you helped create. Here’s to another 23 Dan
thanks Dan, but I had nothing to do with it's creation. This is all Ryan's doing, we have him to thank. I would like to think that I do more to help than hinder around here though.
I’m sure you do. You’re part of the team and all you guys do a fantastic job of keeping this machine Cadillacing along. Thank you Dan
Congratulations on your anniversary. I always see your name pop up in forums, and I see your contributions. It’s people like you that make this, for people like me. Glad that you stuck around for all these years. Otherwise I wouldn’t have a place to go to.
I remember when those shirts came out! I think I gave mine to my daughter when it had too many holes for me to wear. I joined two days before my birthday in 2001. I lurked for a while because I didn't want to make an internet footprint...I think I originally linked to it from Big Blue Car, if that sounds right. I also met @lucky and @mrrocket (Rocket Automotive) about the same time through that site, which led to a lifelong friendship. 24 years zipped right on by.
Like Billy said, Happy Anniversary. Billy, I think that HAMBer is thinking to himself, "Look at the sunburn on that poor girl."
Hey @Paul Congratulations indeed! And the good news is, not all of your hair has gone as white as the goatee!
