I was on my way to billetproof Friday and about 5 miles away I heard a sound....so I pulled over and heard a little knock...damnit! So I turned back to nurse it home and tried to be gentle for the next 15 miles or so....about 3 miles from home and kablooooie!!!#%***#@#% BIG smoke, fluids everywhere, pushed in the clutch and coasted her to the side of the road and called 3a. My kid is a little bummed since it was his 57 wagon...oh well..great show anyway...and I got to run around showing everyone my shaft...and a bunch of people even held it...so that made me feel better!!!

  2. I'll avoid all the usual JB Weld jokes and say "DAMN! It done blowed up real good!!"

Good thing 235s are common as fleas or do I smell an upgrade on the winds?

No I don't really want to go SBC right now as the rearend is a 4:11...so I would have to go overdrive or change the rear. I have a T-5 for this car and all the engine goodies, new dual exhaust etc......and it really isn't supposed to be a lifelong project (even though it feels like it) so I think it will just get another $100 engine with the new ****** so I don't rev it quite so high!

  4. Sorry to hear about the blown inliner. That is one less 235 block that now can be used! See, they are now getting rarer, less of them in existence.

Brewsir I was wondering why I did not see the wagon. For that matter I did not see you either!

Sorry about the bad luck.. I know I'm a hell of a long way away but I'll donate an engine if you can't find one closer...

the post have already ansewered my question what gear in the rear. 411 and 235 dont mix at todays speeds.

that little problem wouldn't stop a slant six from running!!

... it's always good to break down close to home.

  11. Ouch! I know this scenario. "C'mon baby just 3 more blocks till we're home. Hang in there!"

I've got a complete 57 283 that I'll let go cheap if you are interested.

We feel your pain. Hang in there, and it will be even better than before. All it takes is time and money.....

I think you just convinced me to do the upgrade this winter. I've got a T5 here just in case and an open 56 rear end that can go right into my 54.
