Hey, just wondering why my 235, rebuilt with stock cam 15000 miles ago has developed a miss or very rough idle and low rpms generally rough. Adjusted valves statically, checked plugs and replaced wires. Nothing. I didn't add zinc for the 1st half of those miles. It has a mallory electronic non vacuum dist &. 2 barrel carb. Any quick thoughts?

2 brrl Rochester? Vacuum leak at the base of the carb...or maybe elsewhere. Or the idle circuit vacuum hole in the bottom of the carb is plugged. Spray carb cleaner at possible sources of vacuum leaks, especially at the base of the carb. Listen for a momentary rpm change. If so, there's a leak there. If not, you might wanna pull the carb and run a thin wire up that vacuum signal hole...it goes way up into the carb. Spray carb cleaner in it, then compressed air a couple of times. Also make sure the carb spacer and the gasket have the notch lined up with the notch in the bottom of the base of the carb which feeds the idle circuit vacuum signal hole I mentioned.

I've never run a "flap" cam....I just never trusted the theory behind it.
