my 235 seems to run rich and want to tune the carb i just did a rebuild kit, and also how do you check the timing and how wld i adjust it? ijst wanna make sure i do it right i done timing on a sbc but not these becaouse the dist. moves when reving the engine i know thats how these work im also chanigin poins ad condensers becouse its very hadr to start..scn someone please walk me thru the timi on these its off a 1956 chevy sedan
You have to unhook and plug the vacuum advance when adjusting/checking timing. Here's some info from the factory shop manual... I have never manged to get the timing right when its running so i warm it up and do a static check. After its fairly warm but not too hot take out the number one spark plug and put your thumb over the hole and have your buddy or whatever turn the motor over until it blows your thumb back a little (you might have to move the crank to get it right on top dead center) then take off the distributer cap and make sure the rotor is pointing strait to the number one point on the cap.
