235 inline 6 3 spd trans question

hey guys i got a 55 chevy pu series 2 with 235 inline 6 3 spd. and i put the column shifter on and hooked the linkage up but its a pain to get it in to second gear i was wondering if anyone has pics of the linkage for the shifter and trans i would appreciate it thanks

 

Sounds like you need to adjust your shift rod.....does it go into reverse OK? If so, there might be something under the hood or under the floorboard thats trying to hinder it. Make sure the shift mechanisn is lubricated and tight....not flappin-in-the-breeze....
Disconnect the linkage and see if it slides into gear by hand....

i think the problem may be the linkage on the trans i have the reverse and 1st gear lever that is origonal but the 2nd and 3rd is one that i found in the garage but ill go through out the linkage make sure and let you all know how its going thanks a mill guys
