235 inline 6 57 chevy pick up turbocharge

    i have a 57 chevy pick up 235 that i want to turbocharge with a turbo from a 87 buick grand national .... what do i need from the buick besides the turbocharger ... and what can i use for my chevy ..... also want to switch tranny to a 85-86 s10 tranny and differential .... need sum help ... thanks ...

    its gonna take a lot of research for that but why not build more power cheaper with a small block. Fat man fab sells engine mounts for a 283 if you want to keep to traditional or just put a 350 in it. The only nice thing about the 235 is the low compression if you boost it

    i want to keep the 235 .... cause not many people have a turbo 235 inline 6 ....

    Always thought the inline engines were good canidates for turbocharging, simply 'cause the intake and exhaust are so close to each other...not much plumbing involved.

    I assume you are talking about the draw-thru-carb system. We once put a Buick turbo setup on a 225 slant six. It ran very well although it ran extremely hot with the Rochester lean-burn carb. After changing to a Holley 750, it ran cool and smooth. No bog, no hesitation even with the big carb. Only drawback was that the carb and cleaner sat up high and made it nessessary to cut a hole in the hood of the Duster. Everything was left stock except for the exhaust system but the stock exhaust manifold was utilized. Not the most powerful setup, but much cheaper than going an aftermarket injection setup.     what tranny upgrade is common for a 235 inline 6 and what differential .... not trying to spend too much money so i would like one off of another car thats common in a junk yard ... thanks '
