I'm switching out a valve cover and it had 2 studs like the old 216 so I pulled the studs (gonna put a regular 235 cover on it) and now can't get rocker bolts to go in the holes and get started. I don't know if it's my old arthritic hands or if there's a trick to it i'm not aware of. Thanks for any advice.
Make sure the new bolts are the same as the other 4, and then loosen the other four so there is no pressure on the rockrs. Put the bolts in, then get them all started, then tighten them all evenly one turn at a time.
yes, has the 4 holes, had an Offenhauser valve cover I wanted for my Bel Air so I removed it and am putting a regular Chevy 235 valve cover on it.
I didn't have any problems putting a Wayne valve cover on mine. Just run the stud down in there. I used 2 nuts. Tightened them to eachother and used a wrench to tighten the studs. Remove nusts and your done!
Thanks for the help. I went out this morning and loosened up the rest of the bolts and the 2 I was having a problem with went right in. I now have the Offenhauser valve cover and sideplate off and the 3 carb set up comes off tomorrow, Then probably wait for winter to put it all on the 54 Bel Air. I appreciate it.
