235 oil filter placement with Fenton Intake??

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by dimebag, Dec 20, 2009.

  1. After breaking a line going to the remote filter, i saw the set up as a liability and removed it.....
    I change the oil often.

If everything is done right on the rebuild, you wont need the external line. here is a note I got off he inliners site

That's there to use as an auxilary
"oil feed", should the factory one
fail. It avoids pulling the head,
    or other corrections.

If your engine has good oiling,
(to the rocker arms) your A-Okay.

You also have to be mindful (when mixing and matching parts from several 235s) that the rocker arm oiling setup was slightly different on the '59-'62 engines than it was on the pre-'59s.

No need for the external line unless one don't change the oil on a regular basis. Poor routine, allowing the oil to get so gunked up it plugs the normal oil route to the rockers. Motors that were well maintained never had a problem.

People have been known to use permatex or other gasket maker on the head gasket. That will definately close the oil p***age to the rockers. Simple common sense, don't put anything on the head gasket, a no-brainer, to keep that from happening of course...........
