How do I install a PCV valve in my 1956 chevy 235 straight six ? I read an article about the benefits of the PVC valve over the drain tube . Has anybody tried it ? Any pictures would help . Thanks
it was an option, usually only found on trucks and fleet vehicles, you could look for the stock parts. Might have been standard equipment on 62 california cars.
My plan is to plug the tube at the bottom, install a fitting to the tube for a line and run it somewhere out of sight, attach a valve, then continue the line to the intake. The valve cover already has breather slots, but no filtering, I'll probably fill those slots and attach a line to the back of the valve cover or possibly the lifter cover, and to the air filter base.
here is what I did - first picture lower left http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=324492 I used the factory way, but made my own housing and routed it behind the motor to the intake. I'll post a couple pictures when I get home
I know that there is an awesome tech for how to do this somewhere out there..... basically i think the removed the road draft tube completely, and fit the pcv valve in that same hole.... I can't remember but I think they shimmed the difference with a rubber grommet or something, then the ran a rubber tube from there up to where the connection for the windshield wiper vacuum fitting is on the side of the intake manifold.. If I find the article, I'll edit this post...
