Ok..so I want to replace my stock carb for a newer one, maybe a Holley two barrel with an adaptor. Which card is best? Is this possible without changing the intake manifold? I would also like to replace the old accelerator linkage for a cable set up. Help....Thanks

Yes, it's possible, but you'd really be better off with a dual carb intake. 235s benefit not only from the extra flow, but from the more even distribution of two carbs. You could stack together adapters and put a 4bbl. on the stock intake, but it's still got to funnel down through that one small carb opening.

Check out Langdon's stovebolt engine company. They sell rebuilt holley weber progressive 2 barrel carbs and adapters for the stock intake. They even sell linkage kits for the carbs. Tom Langdon is a retired GM engineer, so he knows alot about what it takes to make these cars run. I have one of their carbs on the 235 in my '53 wagon and will be adding another when I can swing a two carb intake, but the car's not on the road, so I can't tell you how well it works.
