Alright guys, I had a question for you. I have a ford 240 straight six that was running a few days ago and now it turns over but won't start. I replaced the battery and the starter, and I have spark and fuel. I'm wondering if anybody had any ideas on why it won't run? Thanks, Mike
fresh engine?high miles?check compression.rotor still point to #1 when on TDC?possible trouble I've had before on the 240=roll pin holding dist gear sheared, would slip and then catch throwing timing way off.another problem that took too long to find was engine acted like timing chain jumped, but the 240 has timing gears,no chain.tore off front cover, timing marks were lined up correctly???still acted out of time-turned out fiber gear slipped on the steel insert, only way to tell was compare to new gear to see the keyway was no longer in right place[compression test will show if cam timing off]
