Last thing on my list is valves for my 270 Super Red Ram Hemi. Anyone have a source besides Hot Heads, Egge, etc?
I've had short block machine work done, Ross Pistons, Crane cam, 318 lifters, Crane springs and lifters. Still need valves, retainers.
Who makes/sells a good gasket set?
Will post a complete thread on the build after parts are rounded up.

  2. Ebay should give you plenty of stock stuff if you want to go that route - I watch it for my early Hemi's stuff......or there is a Hemi forum on here for info....

Seen the eBay stuff thanks. Don't know if there are alternatives to stock original valves vs a common swap. Will check the Hemi forum too.

Check with "73RR" here on the Board, he's "Quality Engineered Components".

If you go with hot heads 11/32 guides you can use 300 ford 6 valves.

    Thanks George.

...there are some uber common gm pieces we use...check your valve interchange book.
I am out of my office for another week so cannot offer any part numbers at this time....

Thanks guys, narrowing it down! I don't have an interchange book, pretty much scrounging the Internet for info and cross references. Checked the Hemi Tech here on the HAMB and some good info on crossover parts, but not too much on 241 270 specifics.

I've looked at the Mellings valve catalog and could see nothing that matches up to the specs of the original valves for the 270 red ram. Some are close but not exact. It would make a great tech article on what it takes to use the GM parts as mentioned above, such as what guides, valves and springs are needed to do this modification.

  11. ^^^^ Yep and if he doesn't have it I'll just about bet he knows who does.

There is another route that no one will want to hear but I really don't care. Late on a Friday night I had an OT Euro car that had a couple of bent vales, even in the San Francisco bay area there were none to be found and the car needed to go out the door on a Monday. I discovered that B/RB valves were close, too long and the stems were a couple of thousandths too big. But they were available and I knew that a lathe would cure the problem. The car went out the door early Monday morning.

If you don't want to deal with the normal suppliers find something that is close and make it work.

All that said, 73RR can hook you up or know who will.

Do you happen to know what valve sizes are currently? Head, stem, and OAL?
I have used LS Chevy valves on a multitude of vintage heads by installing liners into the guides. Have even used beehive springs. All about packaging.
