Me again with an update. Got the head with stuck #7 exhaust valve back from the builder. He replaced #5 and #7 exhaust valves. 7 was gauled pretty good and 5 had a little on it too. Thought it could have been from lack of assembly lube. Just wasn’t positive. Didn’t charge me a dime and was apologetic for having to disassemble part of the motor. Anyhow, while assembling the head back in the engine, we discovered the lifter to the #7 valve was compressed. Pulled it out and took it apart. Didn’t find anything wrong and it functions properly now. All back together but can’t fire it til late this month. Sorry for long post, but can anyone tell me if the valves were the cause of the lifter issue or vice versa? Thanks Dan
Only lube you use on valve stems is oil,,,,I’m sure the guide was too tight to start with . The tight valve probably jammed the lifter down,,,,good idea to check it though . Good luck man . Tommy
