hello I was wondering will a 53-54 red ram bolt up to the bell housing of a 1951 230 dodge? with a gyro-matic trans... I am getting a red ram for my '51 coronet and i wan't to retain the stock trans for now.. if not what are my other options for ******s... It is not an extended bell housing motor.. any help would be awsome

    thanks

I think the bell pattern is different. The ****** adaptor kits for the 392 work, so there is a wide selection of GM & Mopar ******s (stick & A/T) available

You can bolt up some of the early 318 wide block poly ******s. We are currently running a 270 super red ram bolted up to a 59 plymouth overdrive manual ******. Bolts right up.

Forget the early trans. Yes they work, but....not for a v-8. If you do not want to swap to a late TF then consider something from a 'small block' including the bigger Hemi engines up to '62 as they will bolt up.
Anything after 62 needs an adapter. Any install that you do will require some surgery. PM if you have questions.
