    Hello,

All the way back to those early days of looking through my dad’s three newspapers, two from LA and one from Long Beach, we used fight to see who would get the classified sections. If we were in the pulling stage, our fingers were definitely black from the fresh ink printing. But, it was fun to go through the sections and think about what we wanted to get for our first car or truck.

It has been that way ever since, but is definitely slowing down. The second place I look on the HAMB is the classifieds as they provide information about the find, build and cruising in those cool finished cars. Some were/are ones that we wished we had back in those early kid days and even into today, as time and energy become factors. Money is available and you can’t take it with you…

I have found several nice ones for sale. The one that showed up one week and disappeared instantly the next time I logged on to the HAMB was very puzzling. It was a somewhat finished, yellow, 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery ready for the next round of cruising. The price was great and should have sold within a week or two. But, maybe it did since it disappeared within the day.

Some of these have been around, but they are priced right for us and the two projects obviously would take a few more dollars to get them running and cruising around. Finished? Is any hot rod ever finished?

BELOW: The 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery is the most complete, despite the parts all over the place. It would make a nice hot rod. It is even the same color as our old one we fixed up many years ago. The truck and Chevy coupe are jump in and start the road trips. Two different styles, but definitely two styles ready to go anywhere. For us, they are priced right for the build and parts.

  3. My grandfather always told me... "At the end of the day, in every transaction, supplies are cheap, you are paying for knowledge and tools." You can buy the supplies (old frame, bare body, engine core, etc) cheap enough, and spend the money you saved on the special tools and gaining the knowledge (usually by doing things multiple times) and at the end of the project you will probably be in the same place or actually a bit behind.
All of this is assuming you have time and space of course....
The question comes down to, is building a car a knowledge set you want.

  4. I can't believe I'm posting this. I've haven't sold one of my Hot Rods in over 30 years. I getting to the age I'm going to give them to my kids. So when I go to Hot Rod heaven they will still enjoy them. But I am going to sell my model A sedan. I'm thinking a fair price will be $28,ooo. ? 100 percent a finished Rod. What's your thoughts? THANKS.... :) Ron........ 20191030_010351.jpeg 20191002_012816.jpeg 20190627_093108.jpeg 20190623_184651.jpeg

AGGGGHHHHHHHH. Tell that kid to get her grubby little mitts off that shiny wheel. You're probably gonna have to deduct a couple of dollars for the fingerprints.;):D

Seriously, if I had seen your car when I first contemplated my two long way from finished projects, I would have bought it in a heartbeat, maybe with just the slightest negotiation. First reason, it's finished. Second, it's got a HEMI. Third, it just looks right. Fourth, I've already spent close to your suggested price in parts, gas to find those parts and shipping. If I just wasn't so sure that being 6'2" and 230 lbs. isn't going to be a problem when I try to get in the 27 T roadster, I probably would have peddled that one off to someone else. I'm on the third engine in the 46 Merc and still have wiring, plumbing, interior and exterior cosmetics to go. Only reason I bought my OT Alfa roadster was that I actually thought my wife would like it. I actually fit in it and driving it is a blast. Corners like it's on rails but she won't ride in it because, in her words, " The wind blows my hair ". What's a roadster for? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Good luck selling your car, I really like it.
