ANY CHEVY 6 cylinder gurus out there ??? I have a 1960s/ 1970s GM/CHEVY stock 6 cylinder that I'm trying to figure year of manufacture.
It has a one barrel carb with an air cleaner with a decal stating " 250 cubic inch- 155 horse power"
The right side block pad is stamped with some numbers ending TA...My Chilton catalogs don't seem to list the TA designation. WHAT YEAR IS IT????
I know the motor is nothing special I would just like to know what year it is.
    THANKS

That horsepower level shows up 1966-1984. If the intake is part of the head, it is 1978-1984.

    or a 63-65 230, or a 66 250

if you want to know the year, look near the starter for the block casting number, it will be a letter followed by a few numbers. such as D 23 6

the last digit is the last digit of the year it was cast

Huh, I was unaware the TA suffix was used on the 230.

I have a few customers with them. They are a good runner for a cruiser.

    Isn't a 230 and 250 block interchangeable?

Yeah, but the stamped suffix usually tells you which one it is.
