I'm open to suggestions. Already have headers and HEI. I've read the Santucci book that covers the 292. Hope to get a head with 'lumps' later on. Any build tricks that were black science in the old days when round trackers raced them? Any old posts here, I missed?
There are tons of posts. You need to look harder. You need to get the piston to zero deck, work on the head for better breathing, cam it. Thats the basics. What kind of power do you want? What is it going in and what trans?
Well lets see where we start. Building on what was posted above. We angle milled the head (more off the plug side). Moved the head across the block to center the chamber more over the cylinder (use off set dowels, you may have to make your own to get enough movement). This saves notching the block to get enough clearance for oversize valves, and improves flow. If you use stock pistons, mount them on the rod backwards (changes pin location), or use V8 pistons(283's in 230's / 307's in 250's). This should give you something to start thinking about.
