This is going to be a progress thread as opposed to a typical build thread. I bought the car the way you will see it in pics below. I’ve never built something like this before, so it should be interesting. I’ll update as I go with pics and description.

I’m starting with a 26/27 touring front section. Body is already narrowed. (I haven’t measured to see by how much) Custom zee’d frame. Running V8 60. Not sure yet if the rest of the drivetrain. I know nothing of this car other than it’s supposed to have come from North Carolina. It looks as though someone had a V8 60 donor car.
If anyone has any info or backstory on the car or whose it may have been, please chime in. I’d love to hear about it.

Cool project, I've always liked the narrowed modified look. I had a V8 60 in my avatar and wasn't impressed but had 3:78 gears, V8 60 cars had 4:11 gears and it didn't run out good until about 2500 rpm. The V8 60 should be great in that small light car, should be fun driver.

I think I’m going to fill the holes and run it with no windshield frame. Steering wheel is being shipped. I hope it’s as nice in person.

These cars are the the epitome of hot rods ...have built several over my life..regret selling every one and hence build another after each sale.....last one I built (in avatar) narrowed the cowl 11" ..used banger engine..

I have another thread asking about Pedals. Can you share some suggestions or any pics of pedal ***embly? Especially in one so narrow as 11” removed. Wow, crazy

Hi VintageOriginal....your cowl is nealy 11" maybe 10" looking at the photo...I took the filler door completely out of the cowl....the pedal set up I had... the accelerator had a 1 1/2" ****on in between the clutch and brake slightly below..a lot of 1920' cars had this set up...certainly not much room but I have small feet....could only fit two skinny blokes..still was tight...

My buddy helping size up the ****pit. [emoji23] He’s bigger than me, but I think I still may need to go on a water diet till it’s done. [IMG]

That just looks like fun. I've got most of the pieces for one but will probably never get to it.

I got a hold of these juice brakes. I haven’t picked them up yet. Does anyone know what year they are. I’m not familiar with juice brakes. IMG_9201.JPG IMG_9200.JPG IMG_0687.JPG

Those look like 1940-1942 based on the adjustable lower anchor pins. The later 46-48 brakes had non-adjustable lower anchor pins.

Can't tell the ones on the ground without a measurement or a pic of the other side. If 11" they are probably F-1 or F-100. If 12" they are likely Lincoln or F-2.

Sorry about that, @VintageOriginal. I didn't even see the pic of the brakes on the ground. Picture must not have loaded for me. My comments were for the brakes in the first two pictures.

I know the fronts are? But should I keep searching for matching rears?

Which ones? The 40's or the F-1? They are both worth using, but it just depends on how early you want your car to look. If you want to keep your wide five drums and wheels, you can use the 40 brakes bolt-on.

I want to keep the car as early as possible, but some things will have to be sacrificed for ease or cost.
I’ll use the early fronts for sure, but will the backs be outta place?
I would like to use the wide 5s

Nothing new as of now. I’ve been working on the ‘57 Caddy and just sold the ‘28 RPU. so hopefully I’ll be getting back to the Lakester shortly.
