    Phil,
    How many '27 "T" builds do you see with RC planes in the back ground? I sold my Royal P-26 Peashooter.

    I just bought some steel last week. Hopefully I can start laying out my ch***is pretty soon.

    I like what you're doing and I'll be following along

    Got a whole shop full of them...mostly 1/3 scale...been flying since I was about 8 yrs old. Strictly C/L until I switched to RC in the 70's but continued to compete in C/L aerobatics till a couple of year ago. Y'know it's not surprising....... most of us guys like anything that has a motor. -Phil

    We sound the same. I also started when I was 8 with C/L, because my older brother was doing it. I Then went into R/C in the end of the 70's. I don't buy kits. I scratch build my planes. When I was younger, I didn't have the money to buy Kits. so I bought the cowls, wheel pants, canopies of the plane I wanted, and built it. I still today scratch build my planes. I have 23 of them right now, 5 which aren't flight ready yet. I fly small stuff in my back yard, flying field is 20 miles away.

    My smallest is a 15" biplane, and my largest right now is my 1/4 DR-I & 1/4 Monocoupe 90A. I had my DR-I for 20 years, I sold it to a guy 2 yrs ago. He flew it twice, and crashed it. He gave me the pieces back, and I rebuilt it again, yet to be recovered, and minor things finished.

    We had to sell my wife's '27 Tudor, for medical reasons. I am now building my '27 coupe.

    Ha! Built C/L planes since '53, many scratch built Biplanes...then I got Gee Bee fever.
    C/L Gee Bees in many scales, only 2 were R/C. (Vern Clements plans on 1 C/l, 54" WS)

    My '27 Ts are a roadster, a 'coupester', and a steel '27 Touring. Hemis and flatheads...

    IMG_0957.JPG IMG_0955.JPG More construction.....I tried to use a F1 center mount fan but I couldn't lower it enough to get it centered on the radiator, which is much lower than stock location. So I had to go with an elctric fan with shroud...ugh...now I gotta weld in a temperature sensor. With the new radiator setup, I was able to weld the front crossmember in place. Wheelbase now works out to be 114". Pardon the tie rod.

    The tie rod is fine, its the lack of Ackerman that's getting me, hope you can sort it. Looking good. JW

    If I can get the axle close enough to the crossmember I might be able to put the tie rod behind..

    IMG_0963.JPG I cut and reversed the radius rod ends(again) so that the spring perches can be mounted higer and wider. Now I think I can get the tie rod under the spring without bending the arms and avoid the suicide steering.

  12. Here's my front end;

    IMG_0964.JPG I avoided having to use suicide steering by locating the spring perches under the raddius rods. Now all I have to do is bend the steering arms down about an inch for clearance. The weld looks a little funky, I had to do a lot of layers to get the strength needed for a tension weld, I'll pretty it up later. Now I can start attacking the rear suspension.

    IMG_0977.JPG I shortened the pitman arm and relocated the drag link to the inside of the radius rod.

    IMG_0995.JPG Got my rear radius rod set up yesterday. Not conventional but it worked ok on a race car I had with much more hp that a flattie. I think I am going with coil springs and shocks with Watts link.

    IMG_1012.JPG Borrowed some 15" rims today, went to the Tire Barn and got some throw away tires mounted so I could at least roll my T around to work on it. Tires arn't right but it looks pretty bad*** to me.
