I'm waiting for my rear hub lugs to be replaced.. I needed IMG_1122.JPG longer ones when I had to install 1 1/2 adapters to accomodate the 750-16 tires.

To my surprise, I discovered that if you tap the tubes on the '46 backing plates, then the Lokar cables will thread right into them. Probably not new to many of you but new to me..... IMG_1150.JPG

What a good idea to tap those tubes....I made some adapters. One problem I had with the cable ends was keeping them from dropping of the arm, this was my fix. I also needed to add a bit more spring as the Lokar ones were too short. JW

Just re read this thread and noticed you used the same style of top steering arm as I was going to use and I see you have the same issue. How are you going to grease the top left king pin bush? The guy that makes them here in NZ made me a special one that has room for a right angled grease zerk, the after market spindles have the zerk on an angle to overcome this issue. In NZ we cant just grind a relief for clearance.
Here is mine showing the re shaped part for the zerk. JW

Still workin' on it. Got the finish welding done on the frame and sending it to the sandblaster.. I will paint it with silver-gray Hammerite. Bought some Speedway seat frames and narrowed them to 13" wide and then ordered some 16" wide bomber style seats. IMG_1206.JPG IMG_1207.JPG

Is this Man***as? Do we know each other? I ran 'Touchstone' '67 Nova and traveled with Whitey Metheny; Buster Dotson and a couple others running the IHRA 8.90 in the early days and I believe we've talked in the staging lanes. That scene, car etc look very familiar.
    Love the T.

oj...... Yup, Old Dominion, I ran that 23T altered around there in the late 80's. I'd probably recognize you and those other guys if I met them again. Ran a lot at Summerduck, MIR, and Colonial. At the time I lived in Calverton across the road from Lee Edwards. After retiring in '94 I worked in his shop for about 5-6 years before moving to Florida. Used to belong to Bull Run Hot Rods club.

As I mentioned before I have to replace the ring an pinion, bearings , etc in my banjo rear end. Nobody around here could pull the pinion, so being a shade tree mechanic, I made my own homebrew puller. Made from 1/2 steel I used 1/2-20 GR8 bolts and some grease. If I could have gotten some longer fully threaded bolts I wouldn't have had to use some shims to get the race out all the way. But it worked fine. I used an impact wrench but really didn't need one.

While waiting for parts to rebuild my F1 steering box, I modified the seat frames to accept the bomber style seats that I am going to use for now.

Punched out the instrument holes in my dash and ordered them. I'm only going to use a speedometer, temperature, and gas gauge. Maybe a oil pressure light if I can find a pressure switch that stays on with the low idle pressure a flathead usually has.

    IMG_1240.JPG

Installed some strong panels to mount the seats and belts on. Had to reorient the battery box to clear the seat frame legs.

Enjoying you thread. I have your T's twin in my garage. Glad you went and bought the tires so I can see how they look. Thinking about the same tires . What fuel tank are you using ? Thanks
