Marx, Your "T" is sure coming together. Like the look of the dash/gauges you came up with. My want to find a dealer who restores old gauges. Dave
Decided it'd be nice to have a fuel shut-off valve, handy to access but still discreet too. I didn't want it hanging in the middle of a run of hard line, because it was easy to imagine the connections taking some wear from stress. So I made a little bracket to offer some support. Since the body is still off for a couple more days, I took advantage of the access and also mounted a battery shut-off under the driver. Now we're ready to drop the body on.
HAMBer Pinewood brought over a cool rack he built for lifting his A body using a cherry picker. I got the shifter in and adjusted while he made the necessary mods to the picker. Laid out some cloth webbing on the rails. Then we dropped the body in place. Middy the shop dog offered little ***istance.
U do fine work sir. May I ask what size and offset your front wheels are? I realy love how your drums show the correct amount. Thanks Scott
Looking good! Is the body going to be the same color as the frame? I think its a great color because you seldom see anything like it. Cool pup too!
I'm gonna run it for a year or two, then the plan is to paint the body to match, yeah. Thanks, I like the color more every day.
Yeah, I hear ya, Jeff! Next time I'll be making my own, for sure. I picked this kit up on sale a few years ago, so I figured I might as well use it. Shoulda sold it on ebay instead, for as much good as its doing me.
Picked up a random license plate frame at the Roadster Swap last fall. Not sure it's origins, but I like the look of it. Felt like it fit the T's style enough, and I think I paid 4 bucks for it, so the price says it should look real nice! Stuck out way too far, so I cut it apart and shortened it, a bunch. The inner gl*** light fixture no longer fit (and was pretty rotted and broken anyway) so I picked up a $3 universal fixture. Cut it apart, and it fit pretty nicely up inside the hood of the frame. Should be nice and bright.
Been trying to figure out how to mount my 33-34 pedal onto a round surface. The backside of the split headlight bucket (that serves as the inset for the distributor) lands nearly dead center to where I needed to be. Bent up a nice flat surface to match the curves of the bucket, and everything laid out right where is should. rolleyeson't bother pointing out the split brake and clutch pedals. Those will be filled in when final driver positioning gets dialed in.)
Hadn't planned on shortening my driveshaft myself, but after calling around and getting a couple quotes on having it done, I re-read the following tech thread and gave it a shot. Worked out just fine! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=447741&highlight=shorten+your+own+driveshaft The only real hitch to the job was finding a conversion joint for the rear. God damn it, I sure miss the auto parts stores of my youth. Big thanks to hamber Skyspop for hooking me up with the driveshaft!
Long overdue update! Lots got done this summer, so I'll just start at the start. After talking with a couple gauge restorers, I decided to just go with new gauges. My gauges were unidentified, and no one had any luck matching them up with new mechanics and dials. Checked out Cl***ic Instruments, after a couple nods in their direction. Liked the choices, got to pick details like color, dial design, etc, so I went with them. Needed to make some mods, as my unidentified dash openings were midway between the standard gauges, and the 5 inchers that I preferred. I like the reveals, and didn't want to lose them. So I filled them, redrilled them, and dropped in the new gauges.
Promised myself that if I managed to sell one of my bikes this summer, I'd treat myself by sending my carbs to **** York. I did, and I did. Boxed up four ugly mugs and a beautiful Cragar 4x2 intake down to Texas for a little summer vacation.
Spent a lot of time working out a few details. Picked up a 40 Ford wheel at the Lone Star Roundup in April, so I got that mounted to the F100 column. Reworked the front shock mounts to get the angles proper. Sprayed the inside of the guide lights amber, so's I got front signals. Cut a blank for the windshield and got a nice new shield cut in green gl***. All wiring is done and working.
