Thanks Tim, we all have our areas of ability. You are the man for Y Blocks, that's why I have an engine you built.

Your own project is moving right along, the A sedan looks very nice all shiny now :)

I may soon be able to start on the project again and provide updates. :)

The last time I was working on the RPU I experienced a severe headache. That was back in mid October 2013 on a Sunday.

I never got headaches but this one stayed all week and by Thursday I was done, dizzy and could not stand up, throwing up etc.

A trip to the ER and every test known to man revealed a leaky blood vessel in my cerebellum and emergency brain surgery was needed to repair the leak.

I'm finally starting to feel like myself, back to work and feeling less like someone walloped me in the side of the head with a baseball bat

It's really amazing how something like this can take the wind out of your sails.

In seeing the light at the end of this rough dark road I think I can get back to work on the RPU soon and get some progress- updates coming.

Thank God I'm still here and kicking. :D And there is a bright side, the previous issues with my hip have resolved themselves with that last treatment.

    Larry.

So glad you're on the mend. "Emergency brain surgery" is a phrase which would scare anyone! Take things easy, I'm sure you already know.

  10. Dang Larry! You get all the fun stuff. Great to hear you're doing better and ready to get back on the project. I'm proud of you for pushing on, I have to laugh when I think of a friend here who has an employee that has taken two months off because he hurt his finger. Take care and keep at it, you're a trooper!

You got it, especially after being in the neurosurgery ward in a bed for 10 days when they really didn't know what was wrong.
Hearing them say things like possible brain tumor was scary beyond description.
Then when the diagnosis came after my tests were screened by specialists all over north America it was a huge relief.
A doctor in Montreal knew what he was looking at and how it could be fixed.
My surgeon at the University of Alberta hospital is just awesome. I thank God that there are people who train to be neurosurgeons and can do what is needed to save lives.

Fun :D That's one way to look at it. Barely being able to stand up and wondering if your head will ever stop hurting or if the dizziness will ever stop is a bit more serious than a hurt finger. :)

I was off work a total of 3 months and now I have a rather impressive scar behind my left ear, all 4 inches of it :)

    Thanks Tim, and thanks everyone.
    Larry.

Thanks Eric. So far so good. Like anything else there are good days and not so good days. The good days are getting much more plentiful now :)

Make the hay as the sun shines is how it goes :)

I'll also be watching for your updates as they come.

At least there are DAYS! You never fully appreciate youth and good health till they are gone. Glad you are on the mend and we can watch your progress.

Wow, :) Finally time for a small update. I started in on the RPU again last weekend after some time spent previously getting my shop back in order.

I only spend about 3-4 hours at a time on it at this point but it's great.

This is the first time I have touched it since my ordeal in the hospital.

I worked on finishing the removable trans tunnel and fabricating the removable floor board for the driver side.

The small panel is to access the master cylinder.

I used my bead roller and it all comes out with the bolts you see into steel nutserts.

Having the floor removable may be a bonus at some point in the future. :)

Good day at the Red Deer swap meet today :) I bought a few small Y Block V8 emblems.

I also got a super deal on a Hobby Air supplied breathing air respirator system for fresh air when spraying catalyzed urethane paints :)

Brand new never used for $200.

I was able to get the floor basically finished today. It's all removable for future service needs.

Now I can work on the rest of the floor under the seats and then move along to something else. floor 001 (2).jpg floor 002 (2).jpg

Update, as posted in another thread

    http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/t-steering-problem-solutions-suggestions.926078/

I was having a few issues with my steering. I'm happy to say that it is figured out.

I had to order a pair of extra long Superbell steering arms from Pete and Jakes.

I received the steering arms, just what the doctor ordered. :)

I put it all together and I will end up applying some heat to them where they bend slightly down to bring the tie rod up about another 1/2".

This is going to be needed to clear my lower rad hose.

I tried the steering lock to lock and it looks very good.

There will be a little tweaking, and the compromise will probably mean needing an electric fan.
Seems that everything on this car is that way.

Time for another update. I have mounted the radiator and finalized the modifications to make the grille shell fit and it's mounted.
(Some guys on here don't like A shells on a T, I think its fine :))
The rad is sitting on 3/8" thick medium density rubber pads that will take the weight of the rad and cushion it but not collapse.
The mounts are solid and I used a 3/8" ID x 5/8" OD sleeve that goes through the rubber and radiator mounting tab so that when it's bolted down with a large washer the rad is sitting on the rubber but not crushing it.
Next comes the shock and headlight mounts. :)

Looking real good. Very clean fabrication.
Glad to see you have the steering figured out.

  29. Personally, I think the 28/29 shells look like they belong with a 26/27 roadster/touring cowl more than the 26/27 shells. Keep it up!
