  6. The engine is very stable on those blocks. I made the "VAROOM" noises but let my niece drive. ha ha ;) Note that her right foot is down all the way. 1510978_10205563966165520_8963915574759902758_n.jpg

Hey, who stole my RPUs rear end ? :D ;)
Things are never as easy as they seem. :) The plan was to remove the Maverick rear end and transfer all the brackets over to the Winters QC.
That is still the plan, just required a little more work than I thought it would be.
Why ? The maverick rear axle tubes are 2 3/4" and the Winters are 3".
So, a little work on the brackets to fit a 3" tube was in order.
    Moving right along :)
    Larry.

Well, today I took the rear end apart to remove the differential and knock out the axle end seals to keep them away from the welding heat.
Probably wasn't required ( taking it all apart) but I felt better doing so.
I have to say that this quick change is a thing of beauty. The differential is amazing.
I set it up and started installing my coil over brackets and the brackets for the lower wishbone mounts.
A bit more welding and I can put it all together.

Today I wrapped up the quick change install. Put the differential back in and plugged in the axles, and mounted the new brakes.
The Winters did not allow for the usual T Bolts which come in from the back side of the axle ends, but instead has 4 threaded 3'8" holes for bolts.
I liked the idea of studs better to simplify the brakes assembly so I relief ground some grooves to allow allen headed bolts to be installed and act as solidly mounted studs to hang the brakes. Worked beautifully. :)
I then installed the top control arm arrangement that I had fabbed up and also the new bump stops.
The day ended with everything together and sitting back on the tires.
    Then a beer :)
Next comes a new driveshaft.
Hope you enjoy the pictures, I love how it turned out.
    Larry.

Nice work, Larry. Particularly like the upper link mount and the way you contoured the bearing cups for the Allen bolts.

That looks great! I am learning a lot here. First the work, then the beer? That's where I've been going wrong. Getting the beer wagon before the Clydesdale so to speak. o_O

    Thanks,
:D 20 ? I wish :) I'm feeling really good health wise and made good use of some of my Christmas holidays.
Progress slows down when life's other commitments get in the way. Things like work and all that other stuff :)

I found that the driveshaft needs to be 2 1/2" longer by cutting it and putting the yoke end in the transmission and the u joint on the rear end.
Used electrical tape to hold the 2 pieces together with a length of small angle iron holding them straight and removed it.
Measured the space and then, I tacked in a piece of exhaust tubing (thin compared to the driveshaft tube) and will drop it off at the driveline shop as a template for length so they can build me a new one. :)

I don't like to talk too much about "factory" work, some of it is not up to most of our usual home built standards.
