260 trans on a 223 engine?????

Will a 260 transmission with a 5 bolt bell housing pattern bolt onto a 223?

 

do you mean an auto from a 260 ford v8 bolt onto a 221 ford v8??.If so im pretty sure they're the same block 221,260,and early 5 bolt 289

No. The 223 is an odd one.....even the Y block bolt pattern is different. Most 223's had manual trans behind them.....

 

Damn! I have a 2 speed auto behind mine. Oh well it just has to last till the 302 swap

 

You can use their bellhousing to bolt a C4 to your 223. http://www.ford-y-block.com/c4adapt.htm This is the route I may go with my girlfriend's '54 Ford. The 223 isn't a horrible motor but the 2-speed automatic transmission ****s.....

Too bad you are so far away as a local yard has a 64 custom with a 224 and a automatic which is either a C-4 or FMX type.
