What yr did the first aluminum intake come out and what brand for the 265/283. I know dual 4s in 56. What about single 4 bbl?

Edelbrock came out with aluminum single 4 barrel in late 1954 for a Ford/Merc 239-256 then 272-292.
62 was the first one I remember on a Chev small block or 409 from the factory.

In early 1957 NASCAR went to a single 4barrel, so if the factory did it they would have used them.

Howard Johansen made aluminum heads in 57. I'll bet aftermarket was first.

I know edelbrock made the c355 3x2 intake for the 265ci Chevy and later c357 for 283

edelbrock probably would have been the first. When ford came out with the over the counter alumn 4 bbl intakes, ford, cobra, plain and Shelby, edelbrock cloned those,as the F4B. I'm thinking his C3b was a clone of the intake off of the 62 vette.
