I got a buddy that has a 265 V8 in his 56 Chevy, he wanted a PG tranny so I found an aluminum PG off the back of a 283....I just wanna make sure it will bolt up as I havent had much experience with the 265's

    Thanks in advance....

it'll bolt up to the motor, but it won't mount in the car! the 56 used side mounts at the bellhousing, the 62-up aluminum pg used a single rear mount. The front engine mounts on the 56 will flop all over the place if you get rid of the bellhousing mounts, so you'd have to put some side mounts on the engine, but 56 blocks don't have the bolt holes for them! big can of worms.

If he wants a powerglide, get one from a 55-57 car, it's the only one that will work easily.

I have a 56 in pieces in the shed, it would cost a bunch to get it put back together. Guys do take out good working ones every now and then, keep looking you might find one. be sure to get it complete, with the throttle linkage, mounts, flexplate, block adapter, bolts, etc.

Danchuk makes side bellhousing mounts for the putting a TH350 into a '55-'57 Chevy, should fit the aluminum 'glide.

    and here it is

"This conversion kit makes mounting the Turbo Hydra-Matic 350, 400 and 700-R4 transmissions a breeze. (This kit will also fit late model Chevrolet transmissions with minor modifications.) Engineered to last, our conversion kit is built with components that far exceed the strength that is required of them. Rubber cushioned to absorb shock and vibration. Easy to install; simply bolt it to the frame."
