Yeah burret ...I'll try ..my fat ass fingers on this damn phone is not a good match....


I was diving through an old shed the other day on the neighbors place....trying to swindle a visible gas pump n a model a deck lid off this old man .....after talking to to him a bit... I asked him where the rest of the car was....hoping it was somewhere around...he told me he had got rid of it a long time ago....but wasn't too pissed about that...but he said he wish he never got rid of this roadster he drugged home from an oil derrick around lubbock..a long time ago .....we talked about it $or a second...then he asked me if I knew beteck...I said yes sir....well thats who has it now .............long story short and I hate typing on my phone...but I told him ...that it was taken apart and getting rebuilt ...and put back on the road by his grandson....he seem pretty happy about that......I know I suck at story telling...

 

Well that sounds pretty kick ass Holden! My grandpa was telling me he doesn't really remember who he bought it from but that's awesome to get an even further back story on my car! Thanks man! I'll try to tell the story a little better tomorrow when my grandpa wakes up to help tell it!

Awsome story, and cool car!

I sort of liked that top in the first few pictures- at least keep it around for when the weather might turn bad. Covered in cloth/canvas/vinyl might look cool too.

 

It's hanging from our shops ceiling right now! And I think vinyl would look cool on the top eventually.

I like how Barret's being a grammar nazi!

Didn't get to get much more back story on my roadster from my grandpa today, we were too busy doing this....




Put my cracked heads on it to see into the future a bit, also to mock the lake pipes.


I'll try get more background on the roadster this week from some of the others who helped build on it back in the 80's. I may give Mr Reggie Hill a call to see if he remember much on it seeing as how he's the one who wired it the very first time.

Thanks for the story Holden. Watching/seeing/listening to Holden/Barett/Chance
is way more fun than watching a reality show.

 

Who doesn't like pictures right? Need to take a few more now that I have the wiring pretty much completely done, other than head lights and the one wire alternator. Me and my Grandpa will be building the top of the engine tomorrow, and hopefully by the end of the week I'll be able to get a test ride in it!

Got the heads on last night and found out my intake is stripped where the thermostat goes so I'm going to fix that tomorrow. Hopefully will have the headers done tomorrow as well which means my engine should be pretty much completely together tomorrow night. Hoping for the best of luck on the rest of the build!

Thanks hugh m. Got a little more done last night. Figured out my electrical problem and got it all fixed.



Also got my remote oil filter lines and brackets situated


Have the head lights ready to be mounted as well as soon as the grill shell and radiator are mounted. Excuse Speedy the weiner dog!

He sure seemed to know what he was doing, cool job. JW

 

Came to an abrupt stop on building the rest of the engine, my remote oil filter adapter was meant for a 350 instead of a 283. I had no clue that the casting of the two blocks differed. Oh well, just have to order one for the 283 and hope it comes in fast!

Well guys, the car started!! .....kinda.... The carb may need some work with the accelerator pump. That and more than half a gallon of lawn mower gas.... Hopefully it will meet the road for a third round of its life tomorrow!
