Finaly got the transmission mount figured out.

A T5 rubber shock mount is massive so i wanted to use a turbo 350 rubber mount to save space.

Used some scrap bits of tube to fabricate an adapter plate.

Cheap 8" drop turbo 350 transmission mount and job done

I have done a deal with my buddy Joe for him to fix up the body and paint so here is a quick before photo, he is picking up the body this afternoon. This is going to get things moving along faster!

I know it sounds like a lot of work for little gain but I have decided to channel the body just 1 inch. I still want a traditional looking high boy but the look is all in the details

Looking great, you've come a long way. The small details will pay off in the end. Very cool car.

When I get around to putting it on I will post a picture. It's sitting on my goodys table right now I have a touch of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" cause the intake is on and running and I have too many other things to do. This build will be on the road this spring!

After choping up the sub frame to fit the frame Z and dropping it an inch over the rails, all I had left of the rear sub frame was some fragile rusty crap :) (You can see it up against the bench)
So today I got a 20 foot stick of 3 x 1 x 0.85" rectangular tubing and made a new rear sub frame. I did save one rusty bit to make it look more authentic.

Looking good. But watch the clearance between that subframe and the A spring. If it bottoms out and hits the sub frame first, thats not good. I underestimated on mine. Bob

I may notch an inch out of the bottom of the sub frame to give more clearance because I was worried about that too!

More work on the sub frame today. Started giving it some shape to follow the body line and mounted the tank

This build is moving right along. I've got just about everything to do mine and this thread will save me a bunch of time figuring out all of the little details.
This is no complaint but the only issue I have with the whole deal is the grille shell. I would want something a little more traditional looking after seeing how everything is turning out, but that's just me. I'll reserve final judgement until I see the complete project. If I were grading this it would get an A+.

Yeah I am on the fence about the grill shell too.
I started off with a shell that was as traditional as you could get. A 1927 Whippet grill but the expense of getting a radiator custom made to fit it was out of the question. So being cheap I got a early 60's radiator for 99 bucks at Autozone and stretched the whippet grill 3 inches to fit the new radiator.
Here is an early mock up picture before the stretch.
To be honest it may change once I get the thing on the road I just have to focus on getting it finished right now.

    Pete,
I dig everything about the build, but I was a little discouraged when you stretched the Whippet grill. Sometime you have to bite the bullet and pay a little more to keep the look your going for. I've even considered changing mine to a Whippet after seeing yours.

I love the car both ways. Keep up the good work.

    OK guys the last 2 posts and my original mock up photo have sealed my decision, I have a T shell hanging on the wall and I am going to put that on my build (because it fits the mustang radiator) and at some time down the road when everything else is done and paid for I am going to restore the Whippet shell to its former size and drop the dollars for a custom radiator.<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><meta name="ProgId" content="Word.Document"><meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><meta name="Originator" content="Microsoft Word 11"><link rel="File-List" href="file:///C:%5CDOCUME%7E1%5Cpeteb%5CLOCALS%7E1%5CTemp%5Cmsohtml1%5C01%5Cclip_filelist.xml"><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:WordDocument> <w:View>Normal</w:View> <w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom> <w:punctuationKerning/> <w:ValidateAgainstSchemas/> <w:SaveIfXMLInvalid>false</w:SaveIfXMLInvalid> <w:IgnoreMixedContent>false</w:IgnoreMixedContent> <w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText>false</w:AlwaysShowPlaceholderText> <w:Compatibility> <w:BreakWrappedTables/> <w:SnapToGridInCell/> <w:WrapTextWithPunct/> <w:UseAsianBreakRules/> <w:DontGrowAutofit/> </w:Compatibility> <w:BrowserLevel>MicrosoftInternetExplorer4</w:BrowserLevel> </w:WordDocument> </xml><![endif]--><!--[if gte mso 9]><xml> <w:LatentStyles DefLockedState="false" LatentStyleCount="156"> </w:LatentStyles> </xml><![endif]--><style> <!-- /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-parent:""; margin:0in; margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:12.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} @page Section1 {size:8.5in 11.0in; margin:1.0in 1.25in 1.0in 1.25in; mso-header-margin:.5in; mso-footer-margin:.5in; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> </style><!--[if gte mso 10]> <style> /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-ansi-language:#0400; mso-fareast-language:#0400; mso-bidi-language:#0400;} </style> <![endif]-->[FONT=&quot][/FONT]

I have no idea I traded a pair of A wire wheels with 16 inch rims and firestone tires for them.

  26. Wow...nice project. I would like to build something like this, but for me it is kind of pointless being that I'm 6'6" and 270lbs and would need a shoe horn to get inside!
At any rate, super nice T

I got some of those wheel ya car about coasters from HF so was able to re-arrange the shop so that i can work on the bodywork. Makes it kinda tuff to take photos now but here is a different grill I had hanging on the wall. i did chop an inch out of it because it looked to big.
I admit it looks more traditional than the stretched whippet grill and it fits the 65 Mustang radiator so that's whats going on the build FOR NOW.
    I think its a 28-29 A anybody?

You are correct, it is a 28/9 A. If it had no 'plating, it would have been from pickup or truck line. Those would have come from Ford painted only.
Top center hole is for the Ford emblem, while bottom is for crank cover (for using the good old hand turning arm buster).

  30. Great build Bloodyjack been following since the start.

More traditional? Whippet shells have been used on model Ts since the early 30s.
