I am also starting a 27 project. Mine is a fibergl*** body (Please don't hurt me!) from Total Performance. I hunted for months around here trying to find a steelie body in either roadster, sedan, or p/u form, and finally got tired of searching for a half *** decent body. EverythingI found was rotten so bad it couldn't be salvaged, wasn't for sale, or had a "Well, on Ebay I can get...." price tag attached to it. This will be my first fibergl*** car so I am actuially kinda looking forward to this new experience. I'll be building it kinda 50's/60's style wide whites, red steelies with chrome baby moons. Been fighting over paint or black primer, but finally decided the body will more than likely be a candy apple red over silver metalflake, with a white 50's corvette style insert on the side. No billet, no frills, just plain-jane, loud ***, drive it everyday hot rod. Power will be a 340 dodge/auto (hey, I have it already and it runs. LOL) with either 2 2bbls, or 4 2bbls depending on which intake I decide on. Either running a set a lake headers, or building my own set of rad zoomies. Probably running a '59 Olds rear I have here if it's not too wide. Front will be a traditional drop axle with a single leaf and drum brakes. I pretty much have it worked out in my head what I want, but I'm always looking for photos for any ideas I may want to use. I've found it's hard to find any good photos of '27 highboys. Here's a few of my favorites I have gathered off of the internet.
I may be a bit partial to the race car look, but in my opinion, you can't beat the look of a t roadster with a track nose and hood. Especially with a Hollock windshield as well. MMMmmmm MMMmmmm good. .
So far my plan is 27 roadster body.32 frame (kicked in rear) Flathead,39 trans,34 rear,35 wires (spun covers?) Whippet grill shell,custom hood louvered to death. And a one piece decklid/tulip panel full of louvers. No interior,18 gauges...a lot anyway. Push bar on rear. Mock up pictures soon..
I have to lean toward the roadster in the last two pictures. Doesn't get much better than that for me. I wish my '27 on gennie '32 ch***is would have been more traditional, but it was a full on show car up to the mid 60's. An old Central Cali show car (Oakland, Sacto, Fresno) When I got it, it had heavy flake blue paint, red oxide primer spots, 70's added '32 front fenders, 32 grille bar and lights, T rear fenders, chrome wires - lots of goofy 70's stuff. Now has Cycle fenders (36 tire cover fronts and 40 Woody cover rears) King bee type lights, old chrome reverses, 65 'stang poppy red etc. It had a Mustang box and a hipo 289, so kept with the mid 60's theme. Pretty intact for an old show rod that fell into the hands of someone who didn't appreciate it for what it was. They ripped out the J2, manual trans, tossed most of the chrome, painted over the ch***is chrome, etc. It was an old race car in the late 40's/early 50's - a '32 roadster that got the deuce body tossed in favor of a T when it got wrecked once upon a time. They had kept the '32 ***le, and it's still got it to this day. An old car like that has limitations, unless you want to destroy all of it's heritage. Post us some pics when you get that T mocked up!! Starting from scratch is cool cuz you can do anything your heart desires. We wanna see it.
Clark, you're right on. As far as I'm concerned the Mack roadster set the benchmark for all '27 T hot rod roadsters. Frank

here is a pic of a T i'm building. model t's are great .... they have the look and cost significantly less than a model A. i got this one for 1500 bucks and the body is in excellent shape real solid.
Hoydaddyo,I think you drilled out the frame too far ! house,post some pictures of your T. Diablodug,if this snow melts I'm at your place drinking beer. Justdug,have any pictures to share of the "green T" ? lost all mine of your car. Hmm track roadster...cheap b couldn't afford 40 brakes.
drilled out my frame too far... i took me a minute but haha lol. had it off the frame to do some body work. couple of holes (windshield post) needed to be filled and i shaved the gas tank door on the cowl to rock the boat winshield. this is the only pic i have of the engine/ rolling ch***is

Caption says....... DAHM ROADSTER was built on '29 chevy rails. Body is partly custom', partly '27T. I'm a big fan of #714. I'd add a bunch of louvers!
