oh, I am using british car shocks as well. I will build a ball mount for a dogbone on a plate spanning the hairpin near the front for the shocks. probably lost my era specific status with the solids and shocks. I think it will be a neat hot rod nonetheless.
last post for now, showing a repop grille shell housing an original chopped insert, I have since added a vintique crank hole to the bottom, although I am not sure I love it. Maybe when it's dirty and road worn It will look a little better? dunno, it's done. I know I said it was looking race car and it should probably have a track nose. I cant. I just dont have those skills. Maybe a few years down the road.. Like Pat Lash
hi guys, been a long time eh? we can still be friends if you want, I'm keen. These are some shots i never posted from before. inner decklid skin build, i actually saw the technique here on the hamb by an aussie fellow. I copied him. it worked great.
I have a lot of pics on building/firing the engine as well. I have not uploaded my phone pics to my pc in quite some time. I will do that soon. I know I've said that before. Cheers fellas
Great work all around, repurposing parts is always fun and those hairpin mounts are a great idea. Keep the updates coming love the look of this little roadster.
Thanks very much!! I have more to add, just gotta move pics around.. I dont know on the finale, I’m pretty busy with normal life stuff. Hopefully this summer sometime.
I put a 33 coupe together for a neighbor over the last year or so. My roadster was in storage in his garage for that duration, I only have room to work on car at a time. Here is a couple of shots from the day we brought it back home in june.
Here is a couple shots of building the engine. Nothing too crazy, 1940 block, bored 3.200, 3.75 stroke 8ba crank and rods, isky 1007b cam, johnsons, 1.5 chevy valves..
Here's a fun little timing pin I made. These old offenhauser heads have been hanging around forever, several years ago I welded up all the drama. I though maybe it was time to see if they would work, ya know just for fun in the spirit of wasting time. A few shots of machining them back to life, I had to make a flycutter to get a good finish on them. Flycutter uses an insert lathe tool, super handy! I then had to clay them for clearance and flycut over the valves, I used an endmill in a boring head, kinda janky but it works. I ended up polishing the chambers and countersinking the last few threads out, also installed steel time serts cause the threads were shot. couldn't find any photos of the finished chambers. Loads of work, but a fun experience. We don't do this because we want to be sensible right?
This tach and drive I scored is so bitchin'. A photo of the engine coupled to the trans I built up for it 3 years ago. 36 case with side shift gears, aluminum flywheel and fort wayne clutch and pressure plate. A photo of the powerplant on my run stand.
I've just tried to upload a couple movies to the thread of the engine running on the stand.. I cant get it to work. There is a couple fun ones on my instagram @meteormotors if any of you want to check it out. Thickstun pm7 intake,a couple old chrome 97's that I went through, new throttle shafts etc. , crab distributor and a stock early style fuel pump. I have broke the engine in, runs great, and now it's in the car. I have been working on the radiator bits to drop off at the shop for a custom built one. I will post more as I get more done. Can't promise it won't be another year though. Ha
Did you put the vids on you tube first? I think that’s the only way to upload them here? I guess you could copy the IG link?
