I'll e-mail the guy doing the interior and see if i can get some more info out to you about the retractable straps. By the way that is a Killer Model T pickup you have there! Very Nice work!! Some more interior pics: Door panel design layout. Will be done in traditional type rolled pleats Drivers Door Panel Rear panels onto which the red leather will be installed & thin oak roof strips for exterior original cobra grain vinyl top.
Thanx, and glad you like it. Your ride is pretty sharp too! Still love them spats (front fenders). And the rear ones, too. Gary
Here is a overhead pic of the new top. We used the original cobra grain vinyl material. Underneath in order> a thin waterproof foam, cloth, chicken wire and then veneer strips which lay front to back over the main wooden bows. Also used an airpowered stapler using stainless staples, instead of nailing the hide-em strip. Did a good job driving the staples into the hard oak wood.
Here is a pic of the new red leather interior. Since the car has lots of holes drilled eg, dropped axle, visor, front fenders, rear license plate/bumper, front friction shocks, etc we decided to add some to the bucket seats. Traditional pleats on the doors. Old aircraft seatbelt latches were used.
Here is the headliner & rear shelf over the fuel tank. The bulge you see over in the corner is covering the filler neck for the fuel tank. Here is a pic of the upholstered center console and the dash Windshield header, notice the wiper motor is also covered in leather
Nice car! Almost makes me want to give up on mine because it will never be that nice, but then, they can't all be that cool!
Hey thanks for the compliment! Cougar, Not too many '31 Chevy roadsters around, you got a rare one there!
A few issues since completing the '27 T are my main focus now. Leaking rear wire wheels, Wheel Vintique will re-seal them. Tried using an outdoor thin silicone, but they started leaking again after a few months. Burnt 25% of the HPC coating on the Sanderson Headers on start up (should have used an old set, as the high startup temperature was too much for the coating) And finally the rear coil overs are too short. I have moved them up two holes on the bottom brackets and adjusted them up an inch, but the driveshaft u-joint hits the floor. Have ordered longer ones that will use the bottom hole this time and then i can adjust them up if needed. Anybody who has home built a car from the ground up can relate to this "sorting out process"
Here's an update to the "almost" completed T. As you know these cars are really never completed. Was thinking about a cool name for the '27 T sedan Always liked the song by Canadian blues artist Colin James, "Voodoo Thing" So i shortened it to Voodoo T. Do a search on U-Tube to hear it! Got up early on Fathers Day and cruised down to the biggest annual car show (600-700 vehicles) on Vancouver Island at Qualicum Beach. Here's a pic of the '27 along with my sons just completed Fuelie Pro Touring '67 Acadian Canso SD waiting to get into the show n' shine. This would be the 1st show for the ' 27 Much to my surprise, i took home Best of Show award with the '27 T I also was given a BBQ which i gave to my son for all his hard work helping on this project. Yea, i had a great Fathers Day! Here's a pic of the presentation with Miss Teen Qualicum and a show official.
Heading out! Sure glad now that i can drive the T that i resisited the urge to chop this T more than 3 1/2 inches with a 4 inch channel. I'am just under 6 ft tall and these mods are the max. To those building remember the Model T has a tall header over the windshield which impares your vision, so a chop that works for a Model A or later Ford won't necessarily work on a Model T.
Checked out your site Max. WOW, you have had some KILLER cars over the years! There is a member in our club who is selling his restored 55 Stude president. Very, very nice car if you know anybody that is interested? You have a kick ass rockabilly band also! Thanks! Much appreciated!
Beautiful car. Dead on for the look and stance. Like sons Kanuck Nova too. Really cool. Congrats on the maiden car show.
Thanks seesko! My sons first car was a 1962 Acadian Beaumont which is now in Indiana and is now owned by a H.A.M.B. member!
Nice car, I'll have to look you up next time I'm on the island to see my Dad. He lives in Bowser. Any word on where those retractable door pulls came from ? Would be neat to use on my 26 Roadster pickup.
