I am thinking of trading for a Zipper Modified with a SBC ZZ4 and 700R4
with Winter's quickchange with independent suspension.
Do these cars have any resale value?
I know the market sucks for hot rods! Would this car be worth at least 25K? Screenshot_2020-02-29-13-15-17.jpeg Screenshot_2020-03-01-07-14-55.jpeg Screenshot_2020-03-01-07-15-14.jpeg Screenshot_2020-03-01-06-59-52.jpeg Screenshot_2020-03-01-07-00-12.jpeg

There have always been fans of the Zipper cars. They have a nitch market that seems to keep the price for the high end builds around the figure you are quoting.

    Thanks for your input!
This car is reported to be an expensive build. Showing 3000 mi on the odometer. I have not seen it yet. I would hope it's a nice driving car, the owner says the engine dynoed at 408 hp, that ought to move a 2250 lb. car!

I like your orange modified way more, if that’s what you are talking about!
The Zipper looks like a high buck build for sure.

The orange Modified is a beautiful build but for me, it's not comfortable to drive. In AZ you at least need a top and I don't think my orange car should have a top added, it should be left as is. My car is too small, I have tried to sell it but most guys don't fit and I have had very little interest in it! Most guys interested are 6'+ 200+ lbs! It's a hard sell!
I think you know that Al sold it to me because he couldn't drive it because of size and configuration!
It's for sale for $25000, and I would rather sell it than trade!

FWIW I liked your avatar the best. I understand fitment though being in the 200+ bs., 6' area myself.

The Zipper in my avatar is 20 years old. I paid $10,200 for a roller. The same thing today is twice that! I consider it a work in progress and will keep it until I can no longer drive. BTW, I think that it is the only banger powered Zipper and it is the second one Darrell built in Grand Junction. Put a new steering wheel on today. 82B02599-7E15-43C4-82D4-BF478588D840.jpeg

And what do you think of the size of your car?
I think you can see by my photos how small my car is!
    I'm 5'6" and 155 lbs.
    I've seen your car at Good-Guys Scottsdale! [emoji106] Screenshot_2019-12-30-17-50-41.jpeg

I used the original Model A pedal set up and there is extra foot room as my Schroeder sprint car box is mounted in the engine compartment. I had a lumbar support built into the back cushion and the seat bottom was reworked to take advantage of the floorboard design.

That orange T is worth three times what the yellow Zipper is. If you squint the style is the same, but if you open your eyes the truth is evident. Not a fair trade at all.

That zippy lil orange job is cool as hell. That Zipper lil yellow job just sorta misses the mark for me. it looks store-bought wheras your orange modified looks built. Just my 2 cents.

  14. In all seriousness, contact Wayne Carini- he's on the shorter side, loves cars with character/provenance, and if he doesn't want it personally, he's in the business of brokering/flipping.

Honestly, that looks like the car fits you like a glove.
At 5-6 and 155 you’re a little guy comparatively and the orange car should be perfect for you.
    Comfort ? :D It’s a hot rod :D

I’m in agreement with the guys who have said that the Zipper has the appearance of a cookie cutter stamped out car regardless of the dollar value of the build.

Your orange car however looks like a build that had a lot of thought and coolness built into it.

Regardless of that I’m sure a top could be fitted to it even if some changes were needed.

I be all over your orange car, I don't like the rear view of the yellow one. I glued there is just too much going on with the independent rear end. The orange one just looks more traditional to me.
BTW what motor is in your orange car? Thanks Frank

How about buying a cheap old “driver”, and park the orange modified in the corner of your garage so you can look at it everyday, and drive it around the block on Sundays!

Mazda Miata, the engine is moved 1" to the driver side and the intake was sectioned to get it to fit inside the hood sides. Everything on that car is a tight fit. The fuel tanks are under the seat on each side of the drive shaft, if I remember correctly it holds about 5 gallons. Nearly everything on that car was hand built. It's a variation on the Bo Jones modified.

Sad to report that Jeremy Palmer passed away in January of COVID-19. Jeremy and his dad Duane purchased Zipper Motors and moved it from Grand Junction CO to Farmington UT. Future of the company seems to be up in the air.
