Does any one know what aftermarket distributor I can use for my 1955 hemi 270 motor.. I was looking at a few different ones on eBay but they where all for hemi 318. Any help would be greatly appreciated.. Thank you Rob Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
This says it’s only for 1964-78 273-318 motors will this work? Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
I talked to several guys in the know and the alteration sounds simple to make that 318 distributor work. I went MSD because I have them in 3 dailies and they haven't failed me.
Do you have a part number or can you point me to exactly what you used? Thank you again Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Google hot heads research or hot heads hemi. They are amazing what they offer. Caution, you may end up buying a lot more than you intended. I did! Mine is a 330 Desoto. I was afraid I wouldn't fund parts for it. I was pleasantly surprised.
You can buy everthing needed from Summit. You need a resister, wiring harness, amplifier, and the distributer. The dist. installs with no modifications. I have one in my 241.
I found this on eBay and it looks like it fits the hemi small block.. but it does not specifically say it fits the 270... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
If you're after that "classic" look (you are on the H.A.M.B. after all), there are some old Mallory "flattops" out there. I have been able to find two over the last couple of years. I would expect that even if you found one, it would be substantially more than Jeg's and Summit are asking for their small block Mopar units. One last thing; the originals were pretty good units if they were kept in good shape, and they had dual points from the factory. I have an extra if you can't find anything else.
You can run a late 70’s GM HEI module instead of that box and troublesome resistor. Better spark and easier to hide. Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
