I am starting to finally get somewhere on my 270 Poly rebuild. Got a 4bbl intake from Hot Heads, and looking to finish it off with a nice carb. I was just wondering if anyone has any imput on what CFM I should be looking at for this mill. I just don't want to go overboard, and compromise everyday driving. Carbs. are not one of my strong points, so I thought I would ask for some of you guys's knowledge. Thanks!

My suggestions would be - A 390 cfm Holley would do fine - 500cfm Carter would be tops - A 600 cfm Holley would be too much

As has probably been mentioned in the hemi tech index, the Edelbrock 500 or Carter 400/500will go right on with longer studs & a small spacer. You can use the Offy(?) adaptor that HH has to squeeze down to the OEM bore hole size or open them out. You can use the Holley by screwing the adaptor onto the intake

The Offy intakes are cast with the original WCFB carb pattern, but do come complete with an adapter for late model carb.

  7. 500 AFB/edelbrock would be my choice.

The Holley cfm calculator says 365.

Thanks guys. Looks like the two choices are the Hollley 390 and the 500 AFB/edelbrock. I never had any experience with the Carter/Edelbrock, but seems to a good choice. Do the electric chokes work well on these?
